Re: History of Pike County Ohio

Medal of Honor website m But, after more research, I found that Parrott and Slavens served together on that raid. Parrott received his medal on March 25, 1863, while Slavens received his posthumously on July 28, 1883. Slavens was convicted as a spy in Knoxville and hanged Atlanta by the Confederates...

Re: History of Pike County Ohio

eagles73 There was an old cabin between Piketon and Beaver on Germany Rd. that is said to have been used as shelter for a night by Morgan and his raiders. I lived not far from the property and know the owner very well. His family has had the land for many years and would not tear down the cabin know...

Re: History of Pike County Ohio

I believe that Jacob Parrott of Kenton, Ohio was the first to receive the Medal of Honor. You are correct. Not only do I know this from studying Ohio history pretty thoroughly, I have family in Kenton and have seen the Ohio historical marker in Kenton dedicated to Jacob Parrott. Just FYI, Parrot wa...

Re: Girls on the Guys High School Team?

Most schools in the area do not have enough girls for an entire team. If they play on the boys team, they must play the boys tees. However, there is a separate tournament for girls in which they play from red tees. They can only play in one tourament though. If they play on the boys team in tourname...

Coach Fitch pointed out that the parent would need CPR/supervision certificates. The supervision certificate being the key. While the parent may have been CPR certified, they must also have a State of Ohio supervision certificate, and must be approved by the board of education.

Re: OU team camp

Northwest, Burg, and Eastern Brown were the only area teams at OU's second team camp. There were about 20 varsity teams and 12 JV teams. A few other schools included Sugarcreek Garaway, Columbus Academy, Tree of Life, West Muskingham, Sydney Lehman Catholic, Ridgewood, New Riegel (there were several...

Re: Is South Gallia joining the SOC 1

Portsmouth, Ironton, Jackson, and Gallia Academy would all fit in an upper division with Waverly and Burg. That would leave West, Valley, Northwest, Oak Hill, Minford, Notre Dame, Green, East, and Symmes Valley to make two smaller divisions in football (probably would have to add another smaller sch...

Although I like the idea of a third division, yours may be a little overboard. I doubt those OVC schools would want to dismember their conference. I could, however, see the SEOAL schools leaving to join the SOC. Also, you left out Clay, New Boston, and Symmes Valley.

Re: What SE-Ohio teams play up concerning their Non-League games

McDermott (not Otway) Northwest has 1 win in two years. What good would it do them to play up? They already play Burg, Waverly, and West every year, why would such a struggling program need to pick up bigger nonleague games? They are trying to get the program back on its feet.

Stollings is the all-time scoring leader in Ohio, boys and girls, with 3,514. Over 300 more than Jon Diebler's boys record. She went to Ohio State on scholarship for a year or two, then transfered and finished her career at Ohio University. She played a year or two in Europe before getting into coac...
