Re: Varsity qualifying method

Don’t get me wrong coach is a good man and good for the young people in our community. Our golf team doesn’t need any drama though and this lends itself to unnecessary drama. Send em out to compete and over 3-4 rounds the best player will most likely qualify first. By the seasons end the best player...

Re: Varsity qualifying method

I think it’s even worse than that G. We used to play 36 from the mens tee and 36 from the back tee. Always assured the right placement for players 1-5. BUT I am hearing not all players qualify now. Some are “protected” and have guaranteed spots. I do t understand why a coach would open the door to b...

Varsity qualifying method

Just curious how each team determines varsity positions. Recently heard some very troubling info concerning my blue Devil golf team. Just asking to see if varsity spots are chosen or earned? Golf is not arbitrary, biased or influenced. I will say one round isn’t enough data but over three to four ro...

Re: Warren 68 Gallia Academy 35 a final

Thanks pfloyd. Been nice to see the devils make this more competitive. Coach Maddox coaches the game at a very high level and stresses, no mandates team basketball much like we use to see in the old French city. Sounds like we were a little fortunate that Warren shot 18% from behind the arc. The blu...

Re: Heisman odds...part 2

In February I got Harrison at +5000 and McCarthy at +3000. Gotta strike while the iron is hot. In June Harrison was +3000 which was still great IMO. Boy was it hard to bet on that mich man in February. I’m surprised both have stayed healthy based on how my luck usually rolls. Lol

Re: OVC golf

Mattash or ironman92, any golfers your way? This forum is dead!! Golf is a very hard game to be good at. The kids deserve some credit for their hard work, IMO. Gallia has a frosh with a ton of potential. RV has a soph, I believe, that has only been playing a cpl years, that is playing low 40s golf. ...

Re: Tanner on the move again, Marshall???

Buckeyes undoubtedly got worse as the season progressed. Tanners minutes dwindled as did the success of the bucks. Not saying tanner was the “glue”or anything close but the team definitely did not improve as the year progressed. Good coaches make their team better. Win or lose. Tanner is a competito...

Re: Fan Behavior At Games…Action Needs Taken

I think as fans we think we have a good view or know better than the officials sometimes which is wrong on our part. We have a personal investment therefor may have jaded perspectives. I do think some checks and balances needs put into place. Something I have seen grow over the past cpl seasons is f...

Re: D2 poy

Isaac clary may not be the DPOY but IMO he means as much to his team as any player. He rarely sees the bench and when he does, GA isn’t very good. Prob a 6 win team without him and would be 5th in the OVC at best.

Re: Shot Clock?

No. Just no. There is already enough bitching about officiating as it is. Adding this will make it worse. Then you have to find someone to run the shot clock that has a clue. It is hard enough to find people skilled enough to run the clock. Good point. Many schools have students or very young peopl...

Gonna be tough to predict. Should be a very exciting close to the 22-23 season. Team that finds their rhythm and improves the most between now and end of Feb should emerge as the champ. Too close to call right now.

Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio - New Year's Edition (Wk 5)

Hope the Chiefs can get it turned around. Nice to hear any young person overcoming adversity their senior year. 27 turnovers, to me, says a lot about the Jerome defense. Anxious to hear results from the FU game as a defensive comparison.

Re: 2023 Ohio State Football Off Season Thread

I have no idea how the powers that be didn’t see this mess coming. The money with no strings attached is similar to lottery money. Cut and run, suddenly become afraid to get injured, always seeking greener pastures, etc…. Additionally, how does a >25 yr old brain process instant riches. Will they be...

Re: Gallia vs Portsmouth

Man t Dave you nailed it in your first paragraph. Had our number. And the overall series numbers almost seem unreal. Wow!! Great teams in The Trojan’s past but overall I expected it somewhat closer. Recently we have played not to lose against Portsmouth. Struggled with the Trojan quickness, specific...
