Re: SE District Athletes at State Meet

Wes Cochran from Warren finished 2nd in his region in the 3200. He was just 10 seconds behind state cross country champion Tsaye Hiluf.

Re: Pay to Play?

But using your example of soccer being the least expensive and football the most expensive, in most cases soccer generates little revenue (probably just about enough to pay the game officials) while football primarily and basketball secondarily usually are the big money makers that allow the other ...

Schools that allow distance running on roads

How many schools out there allow their distance runners to train off school grounds and run on the roads during practice?

Re: Top Teams in the Southeast Ohio

JoeRoberts, that's true athens had some bad races this year but lets talk about the regionals. How many people did each team send to the regionals and let's also look at overall personal bests of each runner. Do you get the point ? I think a case can be made either way, they were both good, they we...

Re: Top Teams in the Southeast Ohio

stop talking smack. They changed their league not because of the track and field/ cross country programs. This year their distance and relay teams will beat any SEOAL team. If Athens would be in SEOAL during last Cross Country season they would win the league as well. Actually, after Athens won the...

Assistant coaches

So if I were a head coach in a local school district, and every other varsity sport had at least 1-7 assistants, and I had none, and my salary was the same as the assistant coaches of many of the other sports, and I have 30+ athletes, do I have a rationale and basis for requesting an assistant?

Re: 2009 SEOAL

Based on last year's returning runners, Marietta had a significant advantage going into this year in the boys race. Compound that with the fact that Warren's top returner from last year, Jared Cantley, decided not to run to focus on his academic and other pursuits, and it is pretty impressive what W...

Re: 2009 SEOAL

Yeah, I've heard about that one time, but the problem is, hypothetically, you could have a team with 4 very good runners, but no 5th, and they could win a meet even while being assigned the last place. If we're going to do that, then we might as well just change the rules and go with 4 scorers per t...

Re: Pictures of Logan Cross Country Meet

Did something go wrong at the meet? I see the Marietta teams seemed farther back than usual and most of their top runners were not listed in the results. Did they hold them out of the meet or did something happen?

Re: SEOAL 2008

I am assuming you meant individual titles as Warren also won junior high boys team race...it was a good healthy day overall for the SEOAL and the runners and teams participating. I hate it when people say so and so team got lucky...that tarnishes everyones performance...that implies some people scre...

Re: SEOAL 2008

In talking to Coach, the junior high race was 3400m to make it a logical breaking point at the creek and the bridge. They wanted to try and make the HS and MS course as common as possible with as little confusion as possible on where the jr hi broke off from the HS course. The HS course however, is/...

Re: 2008 SEOAL MEET

Not trying to raise a ruckus folks - just that courses come in all shapes and sizes, and there's too much focus on the creek. It could be worse:
