Re: Who would win: 07 Burg vs. 09 Oak Hill
this topic does make burg fans look bad. But I was just answering the question. I am not sour that Oak Hill won a state championship. I'm very happy for coach p and the soc. And I understand the annoyance of O.h. fans at burg fans comments, but the thread is kind of set up that way.

Re: Who would win: 07 Burg vs. 09 Oak Hill
nobody did it all year because the talent level in the area was considerably down. And drrabit can probably provide some specific stats, but I would say Burg held teams to an average of around 45 points in 07 so they did gaurd people. As I stated in the first sentence of my post I have a lot of resp...

Re: Who would win: 07 Burg vs. 09 Oak Hill
I have a great deal of respect for what Oak Hill did this year, and for Norm Pierson. The Burgs 07 team would demolish the Oakes. The talent level was just way too high in burg that year. Miller, Spradlin, Cowgill, and Salyers could all drop double figures and gaurd. Not to mention Jenkins, Cook, an...

Re: Wheelersburg @ Ironton 12/30
In defense of coach Laffon.. when you play the kind of style that he wants to play, which involves an extreme amount of ball pressure, a lot of times full court, you have to play a lot of kids and substitute frequently. Even if you are in great shape, it is nearly impossible to play that style and p...

Re: Wheelersburg 08-09
Oh, I forgot to mention I think burg will go between 13-7 and 16-4. They are young and it will be rocky early, espescially offensively.

Re: Wheelersburg 08-09
Lang deserves to be a captain. He is the heart and soul of the team on or off the court. Captains are named over the summer, and there is no way coach Barrick could have predicted an injury, obviously. That being said, they have a captain on the floor and Lang is the true leader of the team.

Re: Burg B-Ball 08-09 Season
every player on last years team played at wheelersburg all through high school. Even more, all of them except Jenkins played together since 5th grade. There have been a couple of kids come in and play at Wheelersburg I know, but it isn't like there werent good players that lived in the burg. As far ...

Re: SOCII Predictions 08-09
The SOC runs through Tom Barrick and Wheelersburg High School. Like it or not. You want to win the conference, thats who you have to beat year in and year out. They will be just fine this year.

Re: MINFORD FALCONS 2008-2009
Nobody has a lock on the SOC next year. Until Oak Hill comes into Wheelersburg and knocks off the burg at home, then they can have the SOC. Maybe they should win a title before you start giving them a lock and key? Minford should be good next year, Smith is one of the better returning gaurds in the ...

Re: Portsmouth 08-09
In my opinion Portsmouth has a very talented team, but im not sure if they will have what it takes to win their league or to reach their true potential. Very talented and Iv seen these guys working in the off season. Will they be disciplined? Without it they cannot win against good team and they won...

Re: Who do you think will be the best postplayers in the soc1&2?
leslie was the "in" in their 4 out 1 in motion offense last year, when they played four gaurds. when Ronnie Strickland was on the floor they ran a 3-2, but Leslie was inside in both. His game may be better suited to play the high post, but he was on the low block last year when I saw them....

Re: Wheelersburg vs. Portsmouth II
Haha.. im glad that I got a response.. I think I was misunderstood.. Nowhere did I say that it didnt matter who won and lost or that it wasnt the point of the game, and I never stated that everyone should play or anything of that nature, so im not sure I get the tee ball comments. I am not looking f...

Re: Wheelersburg vs. Portsmouth II
This is just a question, and not an accusation: Does anybody else feel like these forums are against baseball's very nature. Baseball has a fun, care-free feel towards it. I think it gets that because of the game's pace and the amount of games that are played in the season. These forums are more app...

Re: Ray Chambers
I think it would be a really good idea for ray to go to ju-co too, or prep school. He needs to work on his perimeter game and then he could be a very good college althlete.

Re: WHEELERSBURG @ MINFORD 4/16/08
I agree that they gave up on the first kid too early. He threw harder than Cook and was able to keep the hitters a little more off balance. His control seemed to be an issue, but I doubt it would have made much of a difference if he would have stayed in. Lots of sloppy defensive plays by Minford, bu...

Re: WHEELERSBURG @ MINFORD 4/16/08
I dont think 5 innings is likely, but it is possible. It should be a good game though. I think the pirates' bats struggle more so with strong arms than with breaking stuff. The games so far that the burg has faced strong arms they haven't been as outstanding offensively. In the waverly game burg won...

Re: Wheelersburg, Portsmouth, Zane Trace Tri-Match 4/12/08
I doubt it was to prove a point. Coach probably just thought that with russell, cook, and wamsley that he could win the PHS game with his 2 or his 3, so he might as well throw the 1.

Re: WHEELERSBURG @ MINFORD 4/16/08
without farmer pitching Minford will have to hope that the pirates bats are abnormally quiet, which probably wont happen, or that the hits find gloves. Burg is the favorite, but I agree that it is nice to see a test for both teams and wish both tteams the best.
