Re: 69 game winning streak over

VC, I think Ironton's streak was already surpassed at least twice; the first time not long after it ended. I believe Moeller was the first team to beat it, having a long regular season winning streak (no ties)... Moeller lost in week 2 of 1978 and didn't lose a regular season game again until week 4...

Re: Gallipolis reportedly headed to OVC

The Ironton vs. GAHS series is, I think, Ironton's third most played... behind Portsmouth and Ashland (KY).

Re: #3 Jackson (11-0) vs #7 DeSales (9-2)

Has there ever been a playoff game held at Peden? Anyone? in the late 80's early 90's ironton played at least 2 if not 3 or 4 times at peden stadium. i remember giving my ticket to the guy at the gate in 89, st clairsville game, ticket taker said- 'ironton playoff games are the biggest crowds we ge...

Is there some reason why the apparel doesn't include the word "Fighting" in the team nickname?

Re: Playoffs

I thought they fixed it so every district had at least 3 teams..... A few years ago they had a couple 2 team districts and a team made it in at 1-9 lol I've seen many overtime games when I lived in KY so I can't figure out how they had a tie. I'm open to correction, but I think the top 4 teams make...

1985 GAHS vs. Ironton was at Ironton... The teams also played at Ironton in week 10 with Ironton winning that one 14-12

2006 Westfall vs. Ironton was AT Westfall. I am sure because this is the only Ironton playoff game I have missed since 1979

Re: Judgement week

There is no question in my mind that Ironton has improved A LOT since week 1. Has Ironton improved enough to beat Jackson? I hope so but I think Jackson is a heavy favorite this Friday. As far as Ironton vs Wheelersburg part 2, my opinion on that (if indeed it does happen) will be greatly influenced...

Re: 2014-REGION 17

...When Ironton plays Jackson this Friday it will tell a lot how far Ironton has come since the 1st game of the season I agree. Ironton has definitely improved since week 1 but I think if Ironton can't compete with Jackson it doesn't bode well for much Fighting Tiger success in the playoffs. And sp...

(Assuming no forfeits or other unusual events).... Although it is still mathematically possible for others to make the playoffs, the odds are overwhelming that the 8 playoff teams will come from the following 10: St Clairsville (7-0) Wheelersburg (6-1) Bishop Hartley (Columbus) (5-2) Ironton (5-1) C...

Re: WEEK 7 COLUMBUS ST. CHARLES @IRONTON

Overall a nice effort by the Fighting Tigers. Still, there are some things that need work. As Coach Vass noted, "field position killed us all night..." as evidenced by St. C punting only once. This was a good example of how the game stats can be very misleading. Ironton had almost 400 yard...

Re: WEEK 6 IRONTON(OPEN)-THEN FINAL 4 GAMES

Right now I'd say the Fighting Tigers should be favored vs. Meigs and Raceland; a slight underdog to St. Charles; and a heavy underdog to Jackson.

IMO, Ironton will make the playoffs.

I think Portsmouth is lots better than a 1-3 record would indicate. But I'll still pick Ironton to win.

Post-game radio had Ironton with over 500 yds rushing.
Ashland had 200 yds... sorry not sure if that was total offense or just rushing

The Series is a interesting one to say the least I remember teachers telling us at one time it was so bitter that people was making bets by cutting of their fingers. It is one of the longest rivalries Ironton has along with Portsmouth at one time it was a brutal rivalry and has calmed down quite a ...
