I do not see forced consolidation in the near future. Look at what is happening in Columbus-bigger schools spliting up into smaller schools.

I am going to go out a limb and say that there could be some of the original members that are now questioning the moves and regret it but will not leave the league. Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for because you may get it. Heck the new SEAOL was the best thing that could happen for ...

Are you sure that some others schools are not starting to second guess what they have gotten into? I think that maybe Jackson was one of the few that could see the problems that laid ahead. Oh well what is done is done.

The Redmen have to be a big favorite going in but remember anything can happen. Stranger things have happened than a Rebel upset!

Brutus-I think SG has beaten Eastern before but it has been awhile. During the Ryan or Burleson teams.

The SEOAL will not go away, just change. The Cavs have a home unless something changes and they are not welcome. As for GAHS-I think if you would talk to a few ADs that are at Indepentent schools they will tell you that the hardest sport to schedule is football because you have ten games in ten week...

Farmer, very true. I think the guy will tell you that for the long run being a head coach that young hurt him in the long run. He said that he had a great group of kids that year. In that group counting the 20 year old assistant, three went on to be very successful head coaches. Was an exceptional g...

I know a guy that was a head football coach at 22 won the league and had the best record in school history. The number one assistant was 20. The team went 8-2

So does age matter?

Good post hilltopkid. Giving up old rivals can be hard and can also pull people back. What happened to attendance at games? I know that played into Athens leaving more than what most think. As one coach at Athens told me, "We have to be able to pay the bills!"

Could this just be the tip of the iceberge? More schools to follow? There has been alot of talk for awhile among schools that the SEOAL would have a hard time keeping all the schools that were in it since the expansion. You might be surprised at who all is questioning it. At least Jackson was up fro...

I am not making excuses for Ironton. You can afford to travel in football but can you do it in the other sports? I have no dog in this fight so it is nothing to me, it is what it is.

Just going back to something Knoweldge said about hiring coaches that make a 10-15 year commitment. Most coaches do not last in the business that long, sorry!
