Re: Ugh . . . one of SE Ohio's best gets in trouble

I agree about the PDT article not being necessary. Just run the AP story regarding the incident on page two or three of the Sports section like they would have done if Thoroughman had not been involved. Kids make bad choices during their college years, just not sure that they should be magnified wit...

Re: East Football

^^^^^^^ LOL...wow, some constructive criticism there!! ^^^^^^^

All I know is that Northwest football is probably not the best program to gauge one's coaching ability at. Vince Lombardi would have trouble winning out there.*

Re: prayers needed in mohawk country!

Terrible news. This happens way too much out there. I used to cut across McDermott/Otway/Rarden to go Cincinnati, but now just take the longer route up Rt. 23 to 32.

Prayers out to this young man's family and friends...no parent should ever have to bury a child.*

Re: South Webster football?

bengalfan: they've already tried that. With two Board spots on the ballot last year, there were two football supporters running...one was elected, the other wasn't. That leaves the current board at 3-2 against football from everything I've heard. So it's not happening anytime soon, if ever, now that...

Re: South Webster football?

Ozzie: not much the parents can do when the school basically says they will not support football or let them use their facilities, even if self-financed. Like I said...the excuse for years at Webster was that there was no interest in football. Well, that theory was blown out of the water by the amou...

Re: South Webster football?

The people whose opinions matter were not behind football at Webster, so it'll never happen. It's a shame in my opinion because nobody can deny that there is interest in football at Webster with the numbers they had in their 2 short years. As for a field, the soccer field was built with a slight cro...

Re: South webster going down hill

basketballparent: thanks for the updates. Sounds like we have some young talent coming up again through the pipeline. Who are some of the standouts on jv for this year? If they keep playing that good, some of them will probably be getting some varsity minutes this year I'd presume. As for this year,...

Re: Portsmouth's John Prior (OL)

With Ohio State's class almost filled up (only 4-5 spots left), it sounds like they are awaiting the decision of an Illinois lineman (Chris Watt...who is down to OSU and Notre Dame) before making an offer to Prior. Watt is due to make his final decision sometime in July. If Prior really wants to go ...

Portsmouth's John Prior (OL)

According to posts on buckeyeplanet.com, sounds like Mr. Prior had a heck of a performance at tOSU's summer camp this afternoon and may be receiving an offer in the next day or two. If so, expect him to commit on the spot. He already has offers from Florida State, Syracuse, Virginia, Marshall, Ohio ...

Re: Portsmouth 08-09

trojandave: the OU Shootout cancellation could have something to do with Tim O'Shea just leaving for another job. Considering he spent every offseason shopping his name for an East Coast job, I think OU will be better off in the long run. This was the same guy who after seeing Cam Thoroughman and Ni...

Re: South webster going down hill

webstertown: those rumblings have been going around the last two years, but someone whose opinion I trust told me Scott and the Loop brothers will still be at Webster next year. As for the coaches, I assume Brenton Cole is not coming back as an assistant based on your post? SWbaseballfan: don't know...

Re: South webster going down hill

bulkmove: I hope Webster stays in SOC II. It is a definite advantage come D4 tourney time having played mostly D3 and D2 schools. Even though it probably costs them 4-6 wins a year, I beleive it is worth it come tourney time. Webster would have won alot more SOC championships in the '90s and '00s ha...

Re: Your Schools All-Time Starting 5

Watcher: pretty solid list for South Webster. I think Brett Roberts and Nick Aldridge are the only locks for the starting 5. After that, a case could be made for all of the following players: Brigham Waginger Michael Coriell Justin Lower Eric McClintic Brady Rose Jeremy Kaltenbach Bryan Dyer Jeff Br...

Re: WEST BASKETBALL

Good luck to West and the new coach. Seems like they have some talent out there but can never put it all together for some reason (maybe it's just a football school and basketball will always be an afterthought...who knows). But I remember Scott Jenkins' teams with Asa Jewett and Co. and they were p...

Re: Portsmouth 08-09

That backcourt is going to be scary! Also plenty of size in the frontcourt means PHS looking like a 15-5 type team. But like others have already said, Portsmouth's overall success will be determined by what kind of work they do on defense and on the boards. This team will be able to run with anybody...

doc_panther: didn't know OU offered Hitchens...if so, you're right in that there wasn't much else they could do. As for Thoroughman and/or Aldridge, I stand by my position that OU dropped the ball by not offering them. qualfied: I guess BJ Mullens being selected to play in the McDonald's All-America...

South Webster football?

Anybody heard anything new about plans for football at Webster? The pee wee program has been a hit with the kids from what I hear and the numbers have stayed solid. This weekend I was told that Notre Dame High School recently sold them some used equipment, but the person wasn't sure if it was for ju...

Re: South webster going down hill

alabama_mike: every team but Wheelersburg seemingly! But yeah, for every other school in the area, there will always be some down years mixed in with the good. I think last year was only the second losing season in 10 years for Webster, so I don't think they'll be down for long.*

dshanton: someone on jj said Wright State is interested in Chambers? That'd be a good fit in my opinion. Good up and coming program and he could be dominant at the 4 spot in that league with a little bit of muscle added. As for OU, I don't care what anyone says, they have missed out on some good loc...

Re: South webster going down hill

burg_kid: going downhill? It hit rockbottom last year. But everybody familiar with Webster basketball knew what was coming after the recent wave of success. I know others think otherwise, but I don't think Coach Kreischer would have made too much of a difference with last year's team. It's arguable ...
