Jim “Snuffy” Smith
Haven’t seen it mentioned here so just wanted to post a tribute to a Scioto County sports icon and advocate for young athletes from our area. Coach passed yesterday. He’s been an integral part of high school sports in our area for decades. Not only did he coach for many years at East high school, bu...

Jeff Berry
Former Minford head football coach and long time football official/baseball and softball umpire Jeff Berry passed last Thursday. I know many on this site knew him in one capacity or another. I enjoyed talking to Jeff on the sidelines and outside of ball through the years. He contributed a lot of tim...

Re: D3 Regional Semi-Final, Northwest vs. Malvern
Nothing necessarily wrong with bias - especially when you know you have it and acknowledge it! Lol I had to go through Piketon and over to the Peebles/West Union area on business a few weeks ago. Beautiful area. Is NW in NW Scioto County? Yes. The Northwest school district borders Portsmouth West, ...

Re: D3 Regional Semi-Final, Northwest vs. Malvern
I watched the Malvern game vs Barnesville ... looks like if you handle the defensive press - you have a good chance of winning vs MHS ... they press nearly 90+% of the time ... they score a bunch in transition off of the full to 3/4 court press ... I'm SEOhio bias - I'm going with NW to handle the ...

Re: N W VS BURG
I honestly just thought Northwest was the better team. Seriously, they would’ve won no matter the foul calls in my opinion. It’s tournament time. Happens every year. Spot on. Burg needed to hit a higher percentage to have a chance but cedit some of that to the mowhawk defense. They were a lot tough...

Re: Collins out @ Rock Hill
This is a shame in my opinion. Thought Gordy has done a good job with what he has had honestly. I don’t mean that as a knock on the kids, but that conference is pretty solid athlete wise.

Re: 1,000 point club this year!
I always wondered how that worked. I didn’t know if it was per school or it transferred with the athlete. The athlete scored the points, not the school. So, does the athlete bring his records too? Most points in a game? Or does it stay at the school? I believe it stays at the school… It was a simpl...

Re: 1,000 point club this year!
Lattimore scored maybe 100 out of a thousand at burg ,will they put his name up with the total points in his career? Same as any other transfer ? Just a question I would say closer to a third of his 1000 at Burg. But yes, his name will be placed on the 1000 point club board hanging outside the gym....
