Re: Greenup County vs. Portsmouth (Battle for the Rock)
Russell's state team was a nice team. Kasey Clark was very good. Didn't Logan win the SEOAL that year. Logan against Russell wouldn't be pretty. SOC 1 most defininately. SOC II they would be in the hunt. Wheelersburg would have probably beaten them. Didn't Russell make it to the state semi's or stat...

Re: Greenup County vs. Portsmouth (Battle for the Rock)
i wouldn't call Mason or Breathitt pathetic. Your right but I wouldn't call them great either. Didn't Breathitt beat Russell at home last year in the playoffs. Nice big quarterback but not much to go with him. Would struggle to finish 4th in the SOC II. Your right Kentucky has some nice teams. Belf...

Re: Greenup County vs. Portsmouth (Battle for the Rock)
Russell has a nice team most years. Russell, Ashland, Johnson Central and a few others locally can compete in Ohio and would have good success. But its really hard to respect their success with the competition they play. Home playoff games against pathetic competition doesn't help people's opinions ...

Re: linebackers
Just because a kid can squat 600lbs doesnt make him a good football player im not saying that he isnt cause ive never seen him play but to make a prediction like he will lead the league in tackles for 3 years and rushing for 2 is just stupid usually this would be true but this kid has the Pedigree ...

Re: Green sports
If thats the way it works then this really needs to be looked into, because the only way you can get big corporations to build is to offer them a deal. One thing it should do over time is increase their enrollment. Green could turn into a small school powerhouse in a few years if they can hang on.

Re: WEST BASKETBALL
If anyone couldn't look at the execution of that team before and after Kitchen got here and seriously say they weren't better, then they have no clue about basketball. I liked Gibson and he was definately a stepp up from Jenkins. But the fact is Kitchen is a better coach. Besides Gibson Quit and I n...

Re: 4.2.08 YOU MAKE THE CALL
Because usually in high school my best athlete and player is the QB, I want it in his hands on the corner with a run pass option. Gives you the opportunity to score or kill the clock with an incomplete pass or out of bounds if it doesn't develop.

Re: Green sports
There was an article in the common about new schools last weekend. Their trying to get the new steel plant to pay for the school if they come, and evidently there is interest. This whole thing is probably a ploy to get the public to pass a levy for the schools. How could Sun Coke and others not payi...

You beat me to it G.O.A.T Trevon is gonna be a force this year. I understand he went for 650 on the squat and was just worn out but can probably get it. Not too shabby for a Freshman. If his ankle holds up, I think this kid will lead the SOC in tackles the next 3 years and possibly in rushing two ye...

Re: Greenup County vs. Portsmouth (Battle for the Rock)
I work with alot of Russell people, including my boss. They say tough times are ahead. The talent pool is drying up. They lost a ton of really good seniors the last couple years. I believe they have a contract with Ironton starting in 09 don't they? 2 previous years Russell vs Portsmouth would've be...

lets call a community meeting like hoosiers It did work out good for them. I appreciate the complement jumper. I just like to stand up for what I think is right and I really care about the school. Academics are really important thats for sure. But I believe a good sports program can have just as mu...

Re: WEST BASKETBALL
I'm not sure where the funds for the teachers salaries comes from, but Ciraso was quoted in the community common last week that at least 2% of the money for the new school could come from the general fund. So there is obviously capital in the system somewhere. Granted I am a big fan of building the ...

I think the guy is one heck of a coach. He's by far..... the best coach that we've had in my time for sure. The guy shows up and walks into a situation like he did with no ties to the school at all other than friendship to Coach Tripplet, does a great job and no-one cares. It's an absolute shame tha...

Re: Who Will Win The Soc II In 2008?????
Wests seniors are the WORST group of TALENTED players that have hit this area in forever. SO GOOD, but SO BAD. I dont give them any respect for next year unless they they buy into this program. But they wont. Parents, players, it dont matter. 4-6 again this year. Locker room info? You bet. West wil...

Re: NW TO SOC 1?
Both sides of this argument make sense. Facts are: NW has been really bad for a long time. They go into 5 conference games knowing they basically have no shot most years. Its hard or next to impossible to build support and a program like this. Other side of this argument is the size of NW. If they w...

Re: Who Will Win The Soc II In 2008?????
Here are my thoughts: The SOC II is wide open this year. Except for West everyone loses a lot but has enough returning talent to win. Wheelersburg has dominated the SOC II since Ed Miller became coach. They do have a winning attitude and they are the defending champion. This century has seen the SO...

How many William's are there? Didn't one graduate this year. I know one played as a freshman and was very fast.
