Darryn Peterson to Huntington Expression Prep
Top-five Class of 2025 player Darryn Peterson transferred from Cleveland area to Huntington Prep (renamed Huntington Expression Prep now) for the upcoming season. Will be the highest-ranked basketball player that's played in the Tri-State Area since Andrew Wiggins. Also, helps to make OHSAA Division...

Re: Tanner on the move again, Marshall???
Would love to see him back at Marshall. He will be the best player on the floor for them from Day 1 if he transfers there, plus his family's roots there are deep. It would be amazing for all involved.

Re: Soccer vs. Football
I don't understand the insatiable need by people to justify whether one sport is better than the other or not, or to downgrade one sport by saying one isn't as good as the other. It's one of the things about today's society that can be overblown at times. Just appreciate and respect the sports for t...

Re: South Webster - Head Coach
It depends on what South Webster wants. If they are looking for wins in the short term (which is probably their thinking), Coach Persin will probably be the choice. However, if SW goes with the long game and wants a guy that is there for a long while, I'd bring in Connor Scott. He's an alum of the p...

Re: Portsmouth West SOC Champs
They do an excellent job. They have five players who could start for anybody and two others who could start for most teams in each of the three states that make up the Tri-State Area, and yes, the eighth-grade group is loaded. They will be good again next year even with the graduation losses.

Re: Valley vs Minford 12/9
This is not a waste of time, I know parents in larger areas are jealous of what coverage we currently have. I agree more coverage would be good. I for one would strongly consider to paying for more complete coverage. Sadly what I see now, and I understand why, certain schools are covered more becau...

Re: Valley vs Minford 12/9
I would love to have more local coverage. I have subscribed to the two local papers available to me for local sports for 30+ years, every year it gets harder to write the check with the shrinking coverage. I never read the college or pro sports or much national news as the coverage is out of date b...

Re: Valley vs Minford 12/9
Going to basketball and football games and writing a few columns is part time compared to what I do for a living. Even if it was 40 hours a week 1. Like I said, not just basketball and football games that we cover. 2. Like I said, it's not just writing stories. That's the primary part of the job bu...

Re: Valley vs Minford 12/9
I think you may be on to something with your thinking. I love SOSA, the PDT and WNXT guys a lot and they do great jobs. In addition to what they do, I would like to see a blend of what Shayne Combs does with the SVC and what the guys do with the Pickaway County Hoops report. They do player spotligh...

Re: Valley vs Minford 12/9
Sign me up for that $40k part time job It's not part time if you're covering all 12 high schools. Last time I checked, each team (outside of football) plays three games a week on average (two conference and one nonconference), plus there's the travel to and from the games. That's not counting the t...

Re: Valley vs Minford 12/9
I will have to disagree with you on everything EXCEPT Levi. Levi played as well as I have ever seen him play and flashed what he is capable of doing this season. He played really well and you could tell the work the young man is putting into basketball right now is really starting to payoff which i...

Re: Valley vs Minford 12/9
The Indians take on their rival Minford Friday. After watching Valley, I was impressed by their big man in the paint. 17 boards and 7 blocks. Needs a little work on the offensive end (namely just realizing how big he is and quit falling away from the basket when he shoots) but overall he made a hug...

KCol: Thanks for the writeup and positive comments about the Lady Trojans. They are well deserved; the community is abuzz about what could be ahead for them. Hopefully all will be healthy and keep working hard at the game. The rewards will come if they stay focused on what needs to be done to be th...

Below are highlights of the Lady Trojans' contest against River Valley. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkBS5PEUINw Portsmouth is very good this year and returns every single one of their 10 players on varsity right now for the next two years plus the four eighth-graders that should come up for next...
