Re: Portsmouth to the SOC3 2027
I would like to see the OVC and the SOC combine. The teams could be more equally divided in football, the smaller football playing schools would have more competitive games. In basketball you COULD go with an east/west schedule and play only a handful of cross over games. For example, Western would...

Re: 2025 Southeast ◄▌District▐► -- Official Seeding/Bracket (Div-V, VI & VII ONLY) Updates and Scores Thread
Looking at the brackets, I think it would be nice if OHSAA used ladder brackets for each district(s). Rewards the regular season results and with less game overlap, can result in more $$$ for OHSAA. Keeps the number of rounds for each state bracket at 8 rounds like it was with 4 divisions. For SE, t...

Re: OHSAA Board of Directors Approves Expansion Proposal
I wonder how this will work with districts, regionals, etc. will they wait until the regionals to host the Convo? Will the regular season be extended or the state tournament happen sooner. This could be interesting. Well essentially, they reduced the tournament by a round of basketball going from 8...

Re: Sam Houseworth’s Analysis On OHSAA’s Division Expansion
Although looking at SE Ohio, I think they'd want 6 divisions with the top 2 divisions at 64 teams each so they can guarantee 7 districts where with 7 divisions and with 80 team D1/D2, SE Ohio might be stuck with only 6, maybe even 5, districts. ---D# Signifies Approved 7 Divisions 64 x2/168 x4: D1 6...

Re: Sam Houseworth’s Analysis On OHSAA’s Division Expansion
For the NW schools and other rural areas, I would've wanted 2 80-team divisions D1-D2 and 4 160-team divisions for D3-D6. This is essentially a 5 division format for the smaller 80% while the new D1 would be split in half creating an additional division at the top 20%. It doesn't change much, yet ch...

Re: Ute And 9 OHSAA Board Of Directors To Decide Possible Additional Divisions
So looked into the small D1 & D2, 6 division format more as opposed to the small D1 & D2, 7 division format and currently. Currently: D1 346-1300 (198) D2 193-345 (201) D3 121-192 (201) D4 16-120 (200) 80 x2/160 x4: D1 561-1300 (80) D2 401-560 (80) D3 243-400 (158) D4 164-242 (159) D5 107-16...

Re: Ute And 9 OHSAA Board Of Directors To Decide Possible Additional Divisions
I don't like 7 divisions, but I'm okay the idea of 2 reduced top divisions. Something I'd like to see is have an 80 team D1 and D2, then D3-D6 with 160 teams. This allows for 10 team districts (8 districts for D1 & D2 instead of 16). If D1 is too big, I could see 64 and 96 instead as an alternat...

Re: OHSAA You Tube Video Discussing OHSAA Expanded Tournament
So I was gonna watch the whole video until I seen it was over an hour long so skipped through it for now. OHSAA considered 9 options: 1. 4 Divisions 2. 5 Divisions 3. 6 Divisions 4. 6 Divisions (Small D1) 5. 6 Divisions (Small D1 & D2) 6. 6 Divisions (Small D1 & D6) 7. 7 Divisions 8. 7 Divis...

Re: Basketball expanding to 7 divisions
6 would be the perfect number of divisions in my mind. It helps to make D1 discrepancies lesser and doesn’t kill smaller schools on the back end by spreading it all too far out. That's my thinking. With 6, you can still do a State final four in 3 days and make money with 3 2-game sessions. D1 would...

Re: Basketball expanding to 7 divisions
My question is how would they breakup State with 7 divisions? Idk if they want to do Thursday games, but if they do, 21 games over 4 days doesn't look too pretty, and I don't see 7 games in a day. With 6 divisions, 18 games over 3 days looks more plausible with 3 games between 10-4 and 3 games 4:30-...

Re: Basketball expanding to 7 divisions
Using this year's enrollment and competitive balance numbers, here is roughly what 7 divisions would look like (assuming they take the largest schools in D1 like football): Division 1 (64 schools) : None Division 2 (122 schools) (cutoff:356) : Logan, Chillicothe Division 3 (122 schools) (250-355) :...

Re: OHSAA: Behind Closed Doors..Adding Basketball Divisiosn
I think creating 3 new divisions is too much, but I think 1 or 2 is acceptable. This is what I think it could be:
5 Divisions:
D1 - 96 Teams
D2-D5 - 176 Teams each
6 Divisions
D1 - 80 Teams
D2-D6 - 144 Teams each
Currently
D1-D4 - 200 Teams each

What are your ideas on realignment for college conferences?
As college football has pasted for the season and March Madness is still a month away, I want to open up discussion on which teams you would want in your conferences (whether it’s realistic or fictional), how you’d realign them, and how many teams you’d want in your conference (could be 8 teams, cou...

Re: If we see another Playoff with 2 SEC teams.. Do we see a future expansion?
I'm a fan of a 6 team playoff because it opens up 2 more spots for teams that I think are deserving of making the playoff, but still presents drama and controversy. There's a push for teams to get the 1st and 2nd seeds because they get a bye, 3rd and 4th seeds are pushing to host the quarterfinal, a...

Ideas to Improve/Bring Back Tradition Lost in College Sports
So with football season approaching (that was the plan lol), I would like to open up discussion about college football/basketball as a whole. I feel like the realignment from the last few years (outside of money) has hurt the tradition of college sports to a degree. With many conferences spread out ...

Re: 2018-19 Basketball Divisions Announced
GoBucks1047: You make good points about the splitting of 4 divisions. Your proposal seems logical in that if the 4 division system were to stay in place, then the largest of the current D1 schools would basically be in a downsized D1, while the other 3 divisions would include more schools but there...

Re: 2018-19 Basketball Divisions Announced
I know somewhat off topic being a basketball thread, but if football went back to 6 Divisions with the top 10% in D1 and the rest split evenly, a way to make up how and still allow the potential for teams to make the playoffs who hadn’t before (the idea with 7 divisions) would be to expand the D2-D6...
