Re: 2024 All-Ohio Division II and I Boys Basketball Teams Announced

The last first team All Ohio boys basketball player for Marietta was Frank Christie in I believe, 1962. Several second team honorees in Bill Ross, Doug Bentz and Ben Howlett. Ross (COL) and Bentz (SEOAL) played in the old AAA division when Ohio only had three divisions at that time. I’m not totally ...

Re: Warren Summer Shootout

Great day of basketball on Warren’s campus. Quality competition. It will fill up quickly. First class shootout for this area of SE Ohio.

Re: Twin State League Boys Hoops

Julian is an absolute joy to watch when he’s on. But there have been nights this season where he’s been a small factor in the game. With all due respect to Julian, Alex Kendall is the best all around and most versatile player in this league. He can play all five positions on the floor. How many 6” 8...

Re: Twin State League Boys Hoops

Tigers win 78-53 over Steubenville at home. Rare Saturday afternoon game. Tigers big man Alex Kendall scored at will for 36 points against the Big Red. Kendall is just as comfortable behind the three point line as he is from the paint. Had a very good shooting day. Wittekind and Knighten had solid g...

Re: Twin State League Boys Hoops

Tonight’s game between the Tigers and Warriors wasn’t the prettiest game to watch in this rivalry matchup. Shooting percentage was poor for both teams, especially Warren as I believe they finished 16-51 from the floor. Warren also struggled mightily at the line by starting off 2-8 from the charity s...

Re: Warren's Mark Duckworth Wins 400th Game

Congrats Duck. A couple other things to mention. Varsity head coach Blaine Maddox too had his 400th win early this season. I think if you’d ask Blaine how effective Duck has been at preparing these kids for varsity basketball, I believe the answer would be an overwhelming yes. The record shows it. A...

Re: Twin State League Boys Hoops

Marietta is 4-0 but Federal Hocking should by far give them their toughest test to date early in this season. FH will be well prepared I’m sure but don’t feel they can overcome Marietta’s twin towers in Kendall and Knighten. Kendall’s superb play thus far overshadows what Knighten can bring every ni...

Re: Twin State League Boys Hoops

Tigers pretty much played as poorly as they could possibly play by only scoring 16 points in the first half. Stifling defense by Marietta only allowed Massillon Perry to score 16 points in the second half. Alex Kendall showed for all to see why he’s one of the best players in the SE District. Totall...

Re: Blaine Maddox #400

Logan AD, Keith Meyers, showed a lot of class by having the PA announcer acknowledge Coach Maddox’s 400th win at the conclusion of tonight’s game. A very tight, hard fought game. The announcement was very well received by the Logan fans as well along with the always proud, Warren faithful. The commi...

Re: Warren at Marietta

Tigers flat out came to play tonight. Just the exact opposite of what usually happens with the Warriors dominating the Tigers. Warren’s youth tonight was exposed for their lack of varsity experience prior to this season. For most, it’s easy for most to forget that 9 of the 11 kids on Warren’s varsit...

Re: Gallia vs Marietta

Remaining games in December are John Glenn at home, at Ripley, then two games at MC vs Trimble and Scott (WV). We’ve already beaten Trimble once at the Warren Clash and we’ve improved since then. If we split these four games, we start the new year at 6-3. Given how last year played out in having a v...

Re: Gallia vs Marietta

Marietta is significantly better coached than in past six years or so. Especially on the defensive side of the ball. The entire mindset of the program has changed for the better. A game like last night was going to happen at some point so glad it happened early in the season. More balanced scoring i...

Re: Gallia vs Marietta

Tigers gave a very poor effort last night. Only scored 5 points in the 2nd quarter. Gallia was aggressive all night with going to the bucket and the Tigers were no match defensively. Simply didn’t put up much of a fight.

Re: Marietta 48 Trimble 31 a final

Marietta much improved on the defensive side of the ball under new coach, Austin Gardner. Pressured the ball well in wins over both Caldwell and Trimble this week. Lori had 36 in the Foundation game but he was made to work for it. Offense is still finding their way. That will come I’m sure. Like a l...

Re: Warren Warriors 2022-2023

I have watched the Warriors scrimmage a few times this pre-season. Your starting lineup projection appears to be spot on. Trent Taylor has the potential to be pretty special player. Far more gifted than last season with much greater physicality.

Re: 1/26 Wednesday Games

Warren 52 Jackson 29 Final This may be one of Coach Maddox’s finer coaching jobs. Now starting a freshmen at the point. Gives them some badly needed scoring from the guard position. Harder for teams to just pack it in on Sallee and Taylor in the post. As usual, Maddox has kids playing extremely har...

Warren 66 Marietta 28 Final, Sallee with 26 and Taylor with 21 Yikes. Round 1 was a battle just a week and a half ago. Tigers trending in the wrong direction with back to back blowout losses. This good ole fashion whipping came down to preparation. Before the game, Warren watched film toget...

Tigers led a couple times during the 4th qtr
36 seconds to go and Marietta had 3 timeouts remaining. Only used 1 and lost the game.
