Re: Ohio Valley Premier League
The updates on the League are extraordinary!
23 men's teams and 13 women's teams
Why wouldn't Rio Grande or Shawnee State or Ohio University club enter the League? If you want to showcase local talent, there's now a pathway to do that.

Any other Leagues have a nice website like this? Seems like every League should have a history, archive, and current information provided. We all know that local media doesn't do a good job of covering soccer. Website: mvlsoccer.com Facebook: facebook.com/soccermvl Twitter: twitter.com/soccermvl

Re: Soccer Officials
So, back to the subject at hand, who has done their due diligence to get players, coaches, and fans potentially interested in picking up a whistle for next season? I am working with a league to get officials to have a "recruiting" email together to send to the league. I think it's necessa...

If people get that bent out of shape because of a little yelling, they have bigger issues than trying to be an official.Raider6309 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 12:21 pm Officiating is like Policing. Re: Unioto crushes New Lexington 18-0!!!
Dani, I have not always been a fan of Unioto, but I have followed them closely ever since the great tourney run they had with Brown and Bryant (BB Gun) back in the day. However, I am a fan of, and will always be a fan of scoring goals. This year was a reawakening for me. When a team is really good ...

Re: Unioto crushes New Lexington 18-0!!!
I don't have a problem with the mercy rule the way it's set up now. Running clock. I'm going to go at the other side of the coin and say high school matches are too long. In comparison to other sports varsity soccer outlasts all other competitions where time is kept by nearly twice the time. I'd be...

Re: Unioto crushes New Lexington 18-0!!!
Would some coach(es) on here reading this take it upon themselves to start pushing for the mercy rule for soccer at offseason coaches' meetings? Such an obvious/simple solution to this problem. Scores like 18-0 accomplishes nothing for everybody involved, and as others have pointed out, kills inter...

Re: Unioto crushes New Lexington 18-0!!!
I normally have zero issues with scores, as I've been on the lopsided end in wins and losses -- more losses than wins. I'd rather play out a lopsided game than a "mercy" or a game of "keep-away" (as the kids call it) for 40+ minutes. I only commented because of this idiocy of a p...

Good job beating a team that's existed for 2 (maybe 3) years. Yeah, way to go.

Re: Soccer Officials
I have been involved in soccer for 30+ years. This has always been an issue. In all my history of being involved "in the game," I can only think of 2 former players, classmates, teammates, etc. that got into refereeing. One of them is no longer refereeing (around 30 years old now). Biggest...

Re: Shawnee State Mens Soccer Schedule?
No announcement has been made yet. NAIA made the decision to allow conferences to make the decisions themselves.
The national tournament has been moved to the spring. One would assume the River States Conference will make some sort of announcement in the near future.

Re: OHSAA Officiating Class
There's low numbers all over the state. I wish HS coaches would do more to spread this awareness to their players. Referees should be in communication every year about recruiting players into refereeing.

Re: Cincinnati Discontinues Men’s Soccer Program
100% UC is really entrenched in the "little brother" mindset, in the context of Ohio college athletics and institutional profile. AAC proved to be a big "step down" compared to the Big East, which was their lifeline to the respectability they long sought out when they were stuck...

Re: Cincinnati Discontinues Men’s Soccer Program
Can they get in the big12 They have applied previously, supposedly. Numerous articles and such can be found how Big 12 wanted expansion in 2016 (before/after a year or two). This move makes sense, Big 12 doesn't sponsor men's soccer (ZERO schools have it). They become a good "travel partner&qu...

Re: Cincinnati Discontinues Men’s Soccer Program
Absolute joke. There's only one reason why they made this decision: Big 12 move. They retained Fickell. Big-name coach. Big-time salary. AAC sucks as a conference. It's time to make a move. Why else would a coach stay there when he had Mich St on the radar and the B1G? They had this planned for quit...
