"Layla"....Derek & the Dominoes ('72) Clapton won a grammy in 1994 for his acoustic version. The late Duane Allman played lead on original recording...if I remember correctly Duane played the slide guitar licks on the original. Eric wanted him to join Derek and the Dominos full time, ...

Re: HOW MANY THINK THAT ??????????

If they need an O-Lineman, Coal Groves very own Austen Pleasants is going to be in the Draft. He started I believe 4 years at Ohio University in Joe’s hometown. How awesome would it be to have not 1, but 2 young men from southern Ohio become teammates on the biggest stage ?!

The one on 217 in Scottown is still there Bait. It’s not in use anymore though. They’ve built a new bridge bedside it and rerouted the road( county road 67)

Re: PARENTS GETTING EJECTED

A couple of years ago during the girls tournament, I saw a West fan get tossed at Rock Hill. The goof ball then decided to yell at the ref” I’ll see you outside after the game!!” I’m fairly certain he took a trip down 93 to Ironton. On this topic though, I think every school has a few fans that can ...

Re: Beast of Southeast Updates

Hats off to Oak Hill. Hammond was on point and had a solid game inside the paint. Coal Grove struggled to get an offensive rhythm. Hopefully the Grove can turn it around before Tuesday night at Portsmouth.

Re: Best Coach in SEO

I have to agree with a lot of the previous post. I’m going to sound biased here by giving a shout out to Coach Vanderhoof and company from Coal Grove. I know it’s going to be an interesting year for them with the graduation of Music. The freshmen who are now sophomores had a great season last year w...

Re: Fan Travel

Lucasville has always had a good crowd when they come to Coal Grove. Coal Grove usually travels well themselves. I just wish we had more seating on our visitors side. It’s not terrible, but if they could expand it some, it’d be wonderful. I know it’s off topic, but the Ashland Tomcats have a nice fa...

Re: WEEK 5 IRONTON @ SOUTH POINT.

Ironton should win handily. Last week South Point scored their only touchdown on a Pick 6. South Point has some athletes, they had probably 40 kids on the team. I think they might win some games once they get things ironed out.

Jerry Fields from Coal Grove. He was recruited by Woody Hayes and signed an athletic scholarship in 1956. He held the record for the longest punt in OSU history of 70 yards against Michigan in 1958 in which the Buckeyes won 20-14. He played QB, LB and was the punter. After his college career, he was...

Re: Imagine when the day comes...

Geographically, Coal Grove borders every district in Lawrence county except Fairland. If it were ever to happen here, it would almost have to be split into an east/west type of alignment. If not, there would be some LONG bus rides for students to get to and from school. I drive for the Grove. We hav...

Re: Final: Valley 34 Coal Grove 19

Coal Grove had a shot in this one. They kept it close until the fourth quarter. A couple of questionable calls and some missed tackles. But, this game is finished. Time to prepare for Portsmouth West next week.
