Re: Meigs vs River Valley

Wow two straight losses at home for Meigs. Those refs won't be back. Not even home town refs can help Meigs. I was listening to the game and they said something was tossed on the floor and the ref was picking it up. I thought they may have still had that Eagle head, but it was just a quarter. Athen...

Re: Meigs vs River Valley

Athens78: Just thought of this today. The officials that you made a comment about officiated earlier in the day (1:00) at Athens (girls game) if you are suggesting that they are homer officials. they must have also been homer officials about 7 hours earlier. they will be back at Meigs (even though M...

Re: Recruiting

parochrial (sp) recruit every day and in rural areas can recruit from two or three counties. Do you think a private school is going to go talk to johnny or joanie because of their gpa. Shouldn't recruit but it is never going to stop, embrace it. It may put some of the smaller schools on more equal f...

Re: Meigs vs River Valley

All, I too have made comments about Meigs fans complaining about the officiating. There is a difference between the fans and the administration. The officials were from the Columbus area and they will be back next year even though Meigs lost. It is unfair for the Athens post to suggest that official...

Re: High School freshman to go Pro.

Guys, I know the post is a joke, but the NFL minimum salary is somewhere around $650,000 for full-time rostered players (not taxi-squad, etc.).

Re: TVC

ohio div Betwwen Alexander, Vinton, Athens then Meigs, Belpre, NY and Wellston just my guess Alexander returns 3 freshman starters to the infield. Have fairly strong pitching (I think the name is Finlaw). May have only lost their catcher from last year. Athens will certainly have something to say a...

I would use a lot of motion and shifts to get the match-ups I want.

Bob Ashley

Re: THE WILDEST PLAYCALL YOU HAVE SEEN A HS COACH MAKE?

old-timer wrote: How about the old Center Sneak! I was coaching when this play was called against Meigs. The play went for about 35 yds for a touchdown. We ended up winning by a field goal. Looks similar to the fumble roosky, but we would actually change the center and the guard, to keep the ball fr...

Re: Most exciting High School game you have ever watched?

Have to say the 1979 (1980) Ironton/ St.Vincent/St.Mary game. My self and another buddy played against Brent in high school and are now great friends. I have seen the game film of the drive many times. We always give Brent a hard time because he threw into double coverage and jimmy Morris jumped up ...

Re: WK 10 Wahama WV @ Athens

I believe Wahama is suffering from an identity crisis. You are a small school who wants to act like a big school. If Wahama fans would not run there mouth everytime they have a decent year, (lately just about every year, I commend you for that) and think they could jump on some of these bigger schoo...

Re: WK 10 Wahama WV @ Athens

Wahama talks all this smack about their football program. I thas a lot of tradition for West Virginia football. How many schools are in each of the three divisions in WV football. If they take the top 16 how many in each division stay home? Ohio FB (even SE Ohio FB) is stronger than WV. One caution ...

Re: whats going on at the 14u level in WV next year ?

MD, I could be wrong but my understanding is TNT had a 14u and a 13u team last year. If that is true the 14u will be moving up. Mtn. Thunder had tryouts last weekend had a great turnout for the 14u (around 35). Their roster is now set. The Thunder picked up some players from TNT 13u (one had been wi...

Re: Week 2 Player of the Week Nominations

All: Bottom line is this Huff's performance has to be the best of the week. In all the other games you could probably take the nominee out of the game and his team still wins the game. Berne Union agianst Frontier, southern vs. Wahama, ironton agaisnt the Canuck team. If Huff does not have that perf...

Re: Report From ASA Eastern National - Salem, VA

Proud Wild Thang, I was wrong and I stand corrected. Both rumors must have been from phone conversations. I couldn't remember if I had read about the Sting Rays or if I was told it in a phone conversation when I was speaking to people about tournaments. I originally clarified this further in this po...

The League in Buffalo runs from September 6th for 6 weeks then a tournament. It has three divisions Little League, Middle School, and High School. Teams will play two games a day (weekend). The games are held on Saturday and Sunday. Teams from as far away as Beckley, WV are in the league. The cost i...

Report From ASA Eastern National - Salem, VA

Just a quick note on the results of the Eastern National last week. Mountain Thunder finished as Runner-Up losing the Championship Game to the Virginia Class A Scrappers 7 to 5. Mountain Thunder had to go without their Ace Kaci Riffle having broken her nose in a Center Field collision earlier in the...

Re: Who is the BEST Scioto County ASA team ?

Yes I knew the Baseburners did not start their first pitcher, that is why I made the statement that I think they pitched their second pitcher. I also know that if we played the Baseburners 20 more times they would probably beat us 20 times. You should know we left that game and immediately went to p...
