Re: Valley 16 - 21 Oak Hill
I think the valley coaches don’t use what talents they have enough. They have 3-4 Receivers that are talented enough to catch a ball and get yards. They need to mix up the run more. Nothing personal to any one but Arnett has talent but has a hard time finding or making a hole and seems to be easy t...

Re: Wheelersburg 37 Valley 6
I’m not saying it was a bad call, I’m saying it was as bad a call as I’ve ever seen. You had two guys go up for a jump ball. The defender played the ball and deflected it... it was a horrendous call. Did it affect the outcome? Nope but it doesn’t help an underdog’s chances.

Re: Wheelersburg 37 Valley 6
That's a great question... Is he still there? Did they play the rest of the game with him there since he refused to leave? During a timeout the officials allowed him to voice his displeasure with a horrendous pass interference call, and once they'd heard enough he went back to the sideline. Pretty s...

Re: 2018 SOC II
Valley hosts Whiteoak tomorrow in a scrimmage I stopped at the field for a few hours yesterday and Valley was in control most of the day. I think they won both games comfortably. Whiteoak struggled defensively, and Valley looked pretty solid most of the day. It turned out to be a very pleasant day ...

Re: 2018 SOC II
I don't think Valley lost anything. As far as I remember, they have all of their pitching and infield back. Last year's sophomores were their best hitters. I know that they also have one of Coach Schuler's grandsons from Columbus who now attends Valley, I think he's a sophomore. The freshmen won the...

Re: JH basketball scores
Valley defeated West 47-36 to win the 7th grade championship. Valley led by 11 at half and let West climb back to within 4 due mostly to West’s tenacity on the boards. In the end Valley was too much. On a side note, hopefully the Duncan boy from Valley gets well soon. He broke his arm on a very roug...

Re: JH basketball scores
Good win by West in a sloppy game. Valley led the entire time until the final 40 seconds or so. West was tough inside and beat Valley up on the glass. Hopefully these guys will have a rubber match in the county tournament.

Re: JH basketball scores
West travels to Valley tomorrow for an interesting 2nd matchup in the 7th grade. Thoughts? From the games I've seen, Valley has yet to be tested. That could play into West's hands, but Valley is much deeper and not reliant on one player. I was able to watch the last match-up and I'm hoping to make ...

Re: JH basketball scores
Sounds like a few people should try to get their officiating license. As an ex-official, I always felt that jr high games and games of lower skill level were the toughest to officiate. They tend to be sloppy and physical. I've seen both SW and Burg play, and both are solid teams. I also have seen t...

Ironman
No... I was referring specifically to the Burg/SW game. Of course officials have bad nights and can influence a game, but I also know that there are slim pickings on good officials. I just suggest to anyone that sees it as a real issue to find a way to make a positive difference.

Re: 2018 SOC 2 OUTLOOK?
I really don't understand what happened to Valley. They were so strong and consistently good for years. I get that Darren gave that one class all the playing time so there wasn't much development for the next class, but the cupboard shouldn't be this empty. The drop off is shocking to me. Would lik...

Re: Top 7th Grade Players
Portsmouth West 60 South Webster 29 Portsmouth West 7th really put it on South Webster Thursday night. The big Collins kid really played hard must have had at least 14-16 points but fouled out midway through 4th quarter. The Lower kid from SW who usually scores big was somewhat held down by an aggr...

Re: Top 7th Grade Players
The Valley 7th grade group has played West and South Webster this week and won both games by close to 20. That group has 5 to 8 kids that can play. I was able to attend the West game last night, didn't see SW, but Valley has 2 kids that gave the Sanderlin kid a hard time, and he can really play. Val...
