TEOHSFBAWKI

The end of high school football as we know it. Is it just over the horizon? For your consideration: 1.) The concussion controversy in the NFL. Will local school districts cave and disband football for the sake of safety and the threat of financial liabilty from lawsuits? 2.) Costs associated wih mai...

Ironton and Burg-40+ Years of Excellence--How?

Without question, Ironton and Wheelersburg have been the premier high school football programs in Southern Ohio since 1969. Great coaches, tradition, and community support are obviously part of the reason for their success. Yet other schools enjoy these assets for short periords of time but cannot s...

Buy or Sell: Notre Dame Resurgence Good for BIG

With the Fighting Irish going undefeated, ranked number one, and apparently headed to the National Championship Game,it is hard to argue against their being relevant in college football once again. Does this resurgence improve the perception of the BIG due to geographic proximity and given that Spar...

Re: AP National Champions in Football -- Ohio State

If "if and buts were candy and nuts, everyday would be Christmas."

Realistically, no squad in the Big Ten is top 15 caliber for 2012.
Savor the undefeated Buckeye season and look forward to better
things ahead.

Re: WEEK 10 BUCKEYES VS. FIGHTING ILLINI

I am almost ready to jump on the Buckeye-Myer bandwagon. Still not sure if it is a great coaching up effort of overall mediocre talent by Myer or if the Buckeye's success is due to the poor level of competition in the BIG. The last two games will tell if it has been smoke and mirrors along the Olent...

Re: Ohio State @ Penn State

PSU 24 OSU 14. O'Brien is getting the most out of his squad, the Bucks have been living on the edge since the opener.
Of course what do I know. I honestly believed the Buckeyes would be no better than 6-2 at this point in the season.

Re: WEEK 6 Ohio State vs Nebraska

Big win for the Buckeyes. Another step taken towards becoming a championship caliber squad. The positives were of course Braxton and the emergence of a running game aside from the quarterback. More good things were the involvement of the tight ends in the passing game, Brown's punt return, and the d...

Re: WEEK 6 Ohio State vs Nebraska

I for one was surprised the Bucks pulled out a win at Sparty. OSU showed some character I really did not think they had. That said, Nebraska will be tougher to beat as they have more offensive weapons. Given the game is a night kickoff at the Shoe, I can see OSU squeaking out a hard fought win by a ...

Re: Week 3: OSU vs CAL

Our collective expectations for the 2012 Buckeyes are way to high. Average overall returning talent. New schemes and coaching philosophies. Unrealistic to rely on talented but inexperienced new recruits. That said, OSU will have a winning season with close exciting games. The glory days will return ...

WEEK 3: Western Brown @ Waverly

The Western Brown Broncos invade Radiger Field in week three action. WB is 2 and 0 with wins over Hillsboro 41-14 and
Little Miami 42-21. Waverly is 0 and 2 with losses to Piketon and Jackson. What are your thoughts on the game? Please

Re: College Football 2012:25 Worst Matchups for FBS Schools

WVU vesus JMU is not an automatic laugher for the Neer's. Just ask Frank Beamer at VPI who lost to the Dukes a couple of seasons ago. Same thing for Wofford versus USC. The Terriers have never beaten Carolina, but give the Chickens fits with their veer option offense. Of course the ultimate wake up ...

Re: Week 1: OSU vs Miami

Due to inexperience and wholesale tactical and cultural changes by the new coaching staff, the Buckeyes struggle to a 27-17 victory over Miami Univesity at Oxford.

Great things lie ahead in OSU's football future but that success will not happen instantly. 2012 lays the foundation.

Per the Blade In Toledo, both players suspended pending outcome of the case.
Did not Urban previously state a no tolerance policy regarding arrests?
Meyer's leadership of the program will be tested.

Re: Conference USA/Mountain West Expansion

The Sunbelt is all but gone ------ Apparently Appy State is looking to move up to FBS and would be a good competitive and geographic fit for the Sun Belt, although they would offer little or no TV market. Also out of the SoCon, GA Sothern is studying such a move and might be a fit for the Sun Belt ...

Any update on the construction project? As an addendum to this question, is there any chance the new facility will be a no go come football season, and the Tigers wind up playing home games Saturday nights at Piketon? Mentioning money and the WSD is an always iffy proposition. Chesapeake seemed to ...

Re: From champs to chomped: How Urban Meyer broke Florida fo

The story of Urban Meyer's problems at Florida is old news. Innuendo, he said-they said, and all of that. However, I do beleive the OSU football community from adminstration, media, fans, and on down to Ohio high school coaches will undergo culture shock as Meyer's OSU program develops. Win he will,...

Re: REALISTIC EXPECTATION OF BUCKEYE FOOTBALL THIS FALL

The returning cupboard is thin. Culture shock from the new staff and system. Reliance on coveted freshman is always questionable. Seven to eight wins at best. Meyer will rebuild the program into national championship contenders. However, he is not a diety. It is going to take time.
