Re: Open Coaching Jobs
well, neither applicant was/is a current assistant, so who knows. Both did graduate from Valley, but that's the only connection they have to the program currently.

Re: Open Coaching Jobs
I heard yesterday that the Lucasville Valley job is open. Also only heard 2 names applied, but hard to get applicants when no one knows its open.

Re: New Transfer Rule Passed. Goes into effect 5/16/18
Think this will slow the number of kids transferring? Or will they just find other loopholes and still do it? I like the rule, if a kid knows he can only play the first half of the season, he may think twice about leaving.

Re: Pendleton - New Ironton Head Football Coach
A lot of good info Carlito. I do not have any emotional investment whatsoever either. So as an outsider looking in, I would think that seeing discipline, hard work, effort, positive attitudes, kids enjoying playing the game, parents and administration supporting the new coach and staff would go a lo...

Re: SOC II CHAMPS
lol. But if you notice, since last years senior class graduated and their parents didn't have any younger siblings, those threads stopped....one would think Minford administration is pleased with what Coach Hopper, his staff, and the kids have accomplished so far.

SOC II CHAMPS
Congratulations to Coach Hopper, his staff and the Minford Falcons on winning the SOC II Championship outright. Based on information on the other thread, this is the first one in a while. Wish them best of luck in the tournament. Win and advance.

The addition of McCray will help I think. But if parents are running the teams, then like Bleeding Red said, more of the same....

Re: Top 5 All-Time from your school
I don't think anyone has mentioned anyone from Valley yet, so ill take a stab at it. Not a top 5 list, but just top players that come to mind over the years... Mark and Harold Merritt played at William Carey in Mississippi maybe? Craig Gilliland I believe was all time scorer until Blake Yates passed...

Re: Pendleton - New Ironton Head Football Coach
Exactly. And to get back on topic, I think Pendelton's workouts will be designed to develop more athletic players, not just stronger athletes. who cares if a kid can bench X amount and squat X amount. If he has no flexibility or range of motion and cant run down the field it doesn't matter. I know o...

And they get to play on Shawnee's turf? That's nice. I hope they have success.

Re: Pendleton - New Ironton Head Football Coach
Bait, I don't like the push for just one sport either. Let kids be kids. Not everyone is going to go Pro, actually very few kids go pro. Parents get all caught up in thinking their kid is all world and they force them to pick one sport. I don't like all the travel ball and playing the sport year rou...

That would be awesome for a local kid to get drafted out of high school. I wish him luck. Also good luck to all SOC teams as they gear up for tournaments.

Glad to see valley competing. Sounds like some younger kids stepping up and making plays. Hope they keep trending in the right direction and maybe it will spill over to other sports as well.

Re: SHOULD CHEERLEADING BE CONSIDERED A SPORT
When I was in school the policy was that you could not play two "sports" in the same season. But I know there were girls that cheered and also played either basketball or volleyball in the same season. In those situations is it considered a "sport"? I don't know? I agree they put...

Re: 2018 Minford
I see. Yeah, I would hope that's not the case either. Best players in the best positions to help the TEAM win games, bottom line. Who cares what other sports they play and all that. But I have no dog in the fight, just thought it sounded odd.

Re: 2018 Minford
I thought Ruby was the coach, not a kids dad? Minford would rather have a kid play QB just so he wont quit as oppose to playing a kid at QB that puts his team in a better position to win games?

Re: Pendleton - New Ironton Head Football Coach
I think it goes both ways. Jimmy and Johnny need to have skill/ability to execute. Also, like Tartan said, the coach need to be able to put them in the right situations to be successful. Even with the best coach in the world, and the kids are put in the right positions to make the play, doesn't mean...

Congrats to Trev on the new job. Wondering who his assistants will be? Will his brother Jerrod be on staff? What about Jerrod's father in law?
