Re: Southern Ohio Football

If you truly believe that all you have to do to win state championships by banning pee wee football, getting rid of soccer and stopping transfers, than I have some ocean front property in Death Valley I would like to sell you! Those are factors, but what those coaches don't want to discuss, but one...

Re: Southern Ohio Football

I have been to the state championships since the mid 90's, the odds of competing with the rest of the state from teams around here are astronomical! Think about this, could you have taken an all star team from all Scioto County, or Lawarence County or any county in Southeast Ohio and compete at the ...

Re: SOC realignment

Who would want to join the SOC right now? Portsmouth laughed at the Soc for years in their hay day, then when the plight of southeast Ohio came, they wanted in, but the memories of that mockery kept them out. That will probably hurt the Soc's chances of adding a team. Name one team, not already in a...

Re: Realistic match ups you would like to see in the next couple of years?

I'd like to see Portsmouth vs. Greenup County Russell Ashland Alexander Oak Hill Piketon Really Alexander, Oak Hill and Piketon?? All the teams in the surrounding area and those 3 would be on your list. Heck why not toss Northwest on there. Common on man it's not about teams you think Portsmouth ca...

Re: Competitive Balance

Orange, yes there are privates that just want to educate and not put money into sports. However, public cannot block anyone due to financial, academic or behavioral problems.

One is a choice, the other isn't!

The hypocrisy of saying, "poor us, who struggle to just get kids in the door, yet have hung multiple state championship banners in multiple sports!" Lol.

Re: Competitive Balance

Showing the numbers of players was to show that NC gets more out of their numbers due to the fact that they attract kids that want to participate. Public schools have the ability to get good numbers out, but they don't have the ability to play down.

Re: Competitive Balance

No it isn't an advantage. As I've posted before NC doesn't have the access to the kids like you think they do. It is actually a disadvantage due to the financial burden, religion, etc. NC only has 250 students for a reason and it's not because they choose to limit the enrollment to stay in a certai...

Re: what will Burg's 2017 schedule look like?

Humorous, but officials in the Wheelersburg schools need to make a philosophy decision about their football program. Stay the big fish in the small pond of Southeast Ohio or venture out into the large pond of big boy Ohio high school football. Choose wisely for the benefit of the students and not f...

Re: Competitive Balance

Ask yourself if you could make an all star team from Scioto County and put that team in D V or lower, could they compete for a state championship? I say yes they could, year in and year out. Next, ask yourself if the economy in SEO was strong, blue and white collar jobs were plentiful and people flo...

Re: what will Burg's 2017 schedule look like?

You were the one whining about a tough 3 games (that they havent even scheduled yet) in a row that Burg might not be able to win, and hoping the other 7 games gets you enough points to still make the playoffs! That is the same boat every team is in, if anything, it sounds like to me from you whining...

Re: what will Burg's 2017 schedule look like?

No jobs, but their proximity to Ashland, Huntington and other areas where their are white collar jobs is the first place most realtors push their high end customers to.

Re: what will Burg's 2017 schedule look like?

football in these parts ain't what it used to be. Maybe because the economy in these parts SUCKS to high heavens! In Irontons hayday, they were able to "attract," (cough, cough) talent from surrounding areas, because you could find a job to support your family and they had very good footb...

Re: Is Portsmouth really dropping Burg?

Please remember that pride goeth before a fall! Burg fans, remember at one time Ironton ruled the roost in SEO, winning state titles and dominating the area, and we still see some of their fans having a hard time with the average product they have been producing lately. One day the Burg will be in t...

Re: Is Portsmouth really dropping Burg?

Some of you have no clue how hard it is to schedule football games! First, you have to balance your non league with competition that you can beat plus making sure that they also win their fair share to get you points. Then, you have to remember that the schools you are contacting are also looking at...
