Massive performance by the soph Wittekind. Gave Mtta a big lift offensively when other guys couldnt get going. Think he finished around 16 to 18 pts. I think Wittekind might have had 22. He was very tough. Tigers had too many turnovers but fought through those. Wow I didnt realize he had that many....

Impressed with Marietta’s grit. Coaching defensive strategy by Gardner et al except for a few lapses (several in the 4th period) was huge. Z. Wiitekind with 22, Kendall 17 for Marietta, Stadelman 16, Taylor 11, Barry 9 for Warren. Warren had trouble with FTs in the 1st half and Marietta with turnovers, especially in the 3rd qtr. Sealy guarded Kendall much of the game.

SE D2 girls get 2 out of 19 teams out to regional for a 1 out of 9.5 ratio.

I thought district games, especially district finals were supposed to play at neutral sites. I see that Marietta vs. Zane Trace seems to be scheduled at Zane Trace. Why not swap this one with a game at Jackson to be more fair?

Nothing questionable about the call, the defender clearly jerked the ball away from the RB at the one yard line. Turnover was huge, not the call.

Waterford's starter, who had ~20 less pitches than the Athens starter going to the 6th, lost some command and defense lost some luster from the first 5 innings.

Zanesville 000 040 0 -- 4 Marietta.. 200 000 0 -- 2 After scoring 2, Marietta walked the 1st two batters of the next half inning, but got out of it. Marietta with some poor defensive plays for 4 runs, then the next half inning Zanesville walks the 1st two batters and gets out of it with a double play.
