Re: Ironton boys basketball job?
I also heard Lafon has resigned as AD. I played high school football (Chesapeake) with a guy who is evidently a really good AD in Michigan. Probably be worth a look to bring him in. He was the national AD of the year a year or two ago. Won a couple other awards too I believe. Might be worth a call ...

Move up the ladder maybe. Be an AP, or central office?GalliaTribe wrote: ↑Thu May 30, 2019 8:40 amIf that is true then good for Ironton. Wonder why he would want to resign?
Who is front runner to be new AD?

Re: Your schools best team(s) ever!
Best team Chesapeake every had was the Sonny Stowers led 1960 teams. Second best was '75 team led by Kevin Rice and Randy Bone. If the state took as many teams as they take nowadays the '75 teams would have went easily. They lost 2 games late then bounced back against CG to finish 8-2 and received ...

Re: Your schools best team(s) ever!
Peake’s 2011 and 2016 teams were pretty nice They were above average. Chesapeake 1999 team went 11-1, with an undefeated regular season. They eventually lost to Amanda, who would win the state title. The 2000 team went 8-2 with both of their losses coming by a combined 3 points (Wayne state runner ...

There are 7 d1 programs in Ohio, I do believe imo they should.
There are two in WV. No excuse.

Re: Saturday 11th: Symmes Valley @ Chesapeake
Congrats to the Vikes. I still stand by my point, but that is a very solid team I saw friday---not the best by any means, but very solid all around. Chasyfan, You must be a very young student. Here is a history lesson for you. When Coach Davis took over at Chesapeake the board basically said just he...

Re: Week 3 Symmes Valley @ Chesapeake
Captian, Actually almost all of the skilled players for Chesapeake used to run track. I don't know if it is still the case, but think back to all of the good skill players: Fizer, Runyon, Hunt Brothers, Waugh, Jamie, Beach, Marcum, Issacs, J. Dillion, Duncan, McComas, Thornburg, Brammer, Brent Ransb...

Re: Notre Dame vs. Michigan
The dutchmen was on here last year saying how great ND was going to be and how they were going to crush Michigan, thought you would learn your lesson. I am a Vol so I have no real dog in this fight, but I hate Notre Dame. Robinson is more Vick then Pat White imo. Notre Dame will not and have not see...

Re: Week 3 Symmes Valley @ Chesapeake
I am idiot because I think Oak Hill and Wayne are better then SV? Really? Ok little high school kid. Viking Pride. Who cares..... This is a football game, I am not interested in anything else. That is nice that your community did those things, proud of you. Excellent academic school eh? Riiiiight. I...

Just remember that if Chesapeake had played SV first two games they would be 2-0 right now and vice versa SV would be 0-2, still think you are better?

Re: Week 3 Symmes Valley @ Chesapeake
If you can't wrap your mind around playing better competition makes you better, then I don't know how to dub that down for you. There is a reason SV has not beaten Chesapeake in a million years, and that imo is one big reason. Chesapeake has started 0-2 or 1-1 since 2000 and beaten SV in the third y...

Re: Week 3 Symmes Valley @ Chesapeake
Let me make this simple for you to understand. THe better competition you play, the better you will be. Case and point- 1999 Ironton team went 6-4 in regular season but played bigger schools who were very good, and then when they went to the playoffs it helped prepare them to play again top notch te...

Re: Week 3 Symmes Valley @ Chesapeake
My point exactly. Chesapeake is a d5 school with 181 boys compared to Portsmouth who is d3-d4. Playing better competition makes you better. I am speaking in fact here. Look at the record. There is a reason SV has not beaten Chesapeake in years. Go play better teams that prepare you for someone who i...

Re: Week 3 Symmes Valley @ Chesapeake
If SV played Oak Hill and Wayne right now, they would be 0-2. Record at this point means little. How many times has Chesapeake been 0-2 and beaten SV?

Re: Week 3 Symmes Valley @ Chesapeake
CHesapeake was playing Portsmouth when they were going to the playoffs on a regular basis in division 3 and 4. I remember talking to Coach Harmon at Wayne about some of those Portsmouth teams, and he said after watching film he was glad he didn't have to play Jo Jo Parker and Jerimiah Bolden, becaus...

Re: Burg fans...Ironton and Oak Hill
I have seen both and it would be an interesting contest. The difference between the two and the difference imo is who would win the war up front. Ironton is relentless, they flat out love contact. Oak Hill is not as physical, they are more reliant on skill players. I am not trying to make Oak Hill n...
