Cal preps says VV 27 Waverly 21 on Neutral field, Home field is worth at least a TD and PAT don't you think?

Go Tigers!!!

This may be a little corny, but in '89 NO ONE gave Waverly a prayer against CAPE but they beat them and with one break would have beaten Badin the next week as well. Waverly had lost to 'Burg (one division lower team) that year as well, so CAPE thought they were going to have it easy. VV probably thinking similar. Good luck Waverly. Play hard.

I seriously doubt VV is overlooking Waverly at all. VV is the road team, they've seen the Waverly stats and defensive play and they're watching the film. Quality teams don't overlook teams once you reach week 11 that's the kind of thinking that lands you at home watching it with the rest of us.

Does anyone know if this game will be streamed online??

If Waverly can cause a few turnovers, I can see them winning this one.

I joined this forum just to see a little insight on Waverly but thought I would fill everyone in on a little info about Valley View. It does seem odd that R16 is so spread out with teams from SE and SW Ohio. There's no question this is one of the strongest regions in DIV with teams like Alter, Valley View, Indian Hill, Wyoming, and Waverly all being involved. A little history on DIV R16 as it relates to the SW teams. Alter has DIII/DIV State Championships in 2008 and 2009, Clinton Massie won DIV in 2012 and 2013, and Valley View does have 3 state championships under it's belt. In the late 90's the Spartans were a state power. Their state championship wins were:

1994 Valley View over Orrville 24-24
1996 Valley View over Bellaire 37-12
1997 Valley View over Akron Manchester 31-24 (5OT's; longest championship game of all time)

From 1996-1998 Valley View won 39 straight football games at one time. As mentioned earlier, VV's Hall of Fame Head Coach, Jay Niswonger has retired from the program. The past 7-10 years for VV have been down years for their program, or at least what they would consider as down. This year's team has many juniors that have played since they were freshman. That's resulted in the 9-1 record and a very good football team. Three weeks ago the Spartans were hit with a rash of injuries. They lost two players for the season due to broken bones. In Week 8 the Spartans had only 4 starters on defense that began the season as starters on defense. VV's a little more healthy for Week 11. VV has a balanced offense with run and pass. Their QB is Colin Wood, a 6'4" capable passer. Their RB is junior, Colin Genslinger, that's a dynamic player. In my opinion he's elite for the DIV level, especially his speed. The Spartans defense is anchored by another junior at LB, Hannah. VV has good overall size, good overall speed.

To be honest though, VV and Waverly are good playoff teams. The meat of this region though will be Alter, Clinton Massie, and potentially Wyoming or Indian Hill. If I ranked the top 8 teams on how good they are, I would say:

1. Alter
2. Clinton Massie,
3. Wyoming
4. Indian Hill
5. Valley View
6. Waverly
7. Taft
8. Unioto

Good luck to Waverly this weekend as the Spartans come to town. It'll be a long drive for us Spartan faithful!

Welcome to the forum ex_dc_atc . That is a pretty good look at what the region is stacking up like. We shall see how well Waverly stacks up to the SW powers. I think it will be a tough game and we will worry about any other opponents if and when we get to. If Waverly plays up to their ability they can compete with anyone in this region. I truly believe that.
