Re: WK4 (1-2) Belpre @ (1-2) Wahama
Both have 2 losses to a couple of good teams (fort frye, trimble, Waterford, Southern) and a wins against some not so good teams (fed hock, Ravenswood). I'm going to say that Belpre evens up at 2-2 on the year and wins this one by a few scores 42-20.
And that's the bottom line, b/c Stone Cold said so....
Re: WK4 (1-2) Belpre @ (1-2) Wahama
Wahama is struggling with numbers on the varsity level... And then you go down to the jr high and they needed a few girls to play to have enough for a team. Im hearing half the JH squad is made up of girls, but that is probably slightly exaggerated. Its looking like a few down years in Mason to come for the White Falcons. Gotta feel bad for Coach Barr, hes done nothing but great things for those boys and this is how they repay him.Alumni17 wrote:Belpre-34

Wahama may be down but you better be ready to play when you come into Mason or they come to your town because Coach Barr will have his kids ready to play with a good game plan and is good enough to beat you (just ask Ravenswood).
Coach Barr is a very good football Coach and they have a very good, seasoned staff. It's sad to see them struggle but when you have a small school your talent is going to come in spurts and they got to enjoy a lot of success recently that he was a huge part of (not head coach but def cord) so I think everyone knows it's not his fault. Wahama football will be back again someday and I just hope he gets to be a part it when the time comes.
Everyone but Trimble seems to be up and down around here with schools this size

Ummmm no, Trimble is litterally on the red line of moving up to D6. I believe last year cutoff was 112 boys and trimble had 111Orange and Brown wrote:The Hocking schools are pretty close size wise from top to bottom.madpolecat wrote:I wonder how dense the Trimble district is, population-wise, compared to its TVC Hocking fellows...Everyone but Trimble seems to be up and down around here with schools this size

The OHSAA website lists boys enrollment for 2015-16 and 2016-17 grades 9-11 as :
Belpre 98
Fed Hock 96
Trimble 87
Southern 85
Miller 78
Eastern 74
South Gallia 72
Waterford 70
There is a huge difference between now and 2014-15:
Belpre 128
Fed Hock 127
Trimble 110
Waterford 98
Miller 89
Southern 86
Eastern 79
South Gallia 70
I don't know if there was that big of an enrollment drop or if it has something to do with how the OHSAA counts now. Either way, it's a huge difference. According to the current numbers, Trimble has nearly 20% more boys to play football than the bottom 4 teams. That's not the only deciding factor in who is good of course. Having the same head coach for 25+ years sure doesn't hurt the program. I couldn't find numbers for Wahama.

They may be close, but 20% is a pretty big difference. And based off prior years, it is closer to 50%.

Just look at the discrepancy between the top and bottom of the Ohio.

I agree. It is ridiculous. That's why I never really understood why people were against going to 3 divisions. Except those people who would be moving up.....Orange and Brown wrote:Just look at the discrepancy between the top and bottom of the Ohio.
