NY BUCK wrote: Mon Jun 24, 2019 3:02 pm Just by going off the maps app in my phone. From Nelsonville the distance from each team is pretty significant besides the southeastern Ohio teams.

Belpre: 55 Minutes
Brookfield: 3 Hours 34 Minutes
Buckeye Trail: 1 Hour 47 Minutes
Cardinal: 3 Hours 27 Minutes
Columbiana: 3 Hours 24 Minutes
Crooksville: 44 Minutes
Dalton: 2 Hours 33 Minutes
East Canton: 2 Hours 35 Minutes
East Palestine: 3 Hours 31 Minutes
Federal Hocking: 34 Minutes
Fort Frye: 1 Hour 10 Minutes
LaBrae: 3 Hours 23 Minutes
Liberty: 3 Hours 26 Minutes
Memorial: 3 Hours 30 Minutes
Mineral Ridge: 3 Hours 21 Minutes
Mogadore: 2 Hours 54 Minutes
Newcomerstown: 1 Hour 56 Minutes
Newton Falls: 3 Hour 17 Minutes
Pymatuning Valley: 4 Hours 5 Minutes
Rittman: 2 Hours 35 Minutes
Salineville Southern: 3 Hours 3 Minutes
Springfield Local: 3 Hours 37 Minutes
Trimble: 22 Minutes
Tuscarawas Valley: 2 Hours 6 Minutes
United: 3 Hours
Western Reserve: 3 Hours 5 Minutes

These distances are from in town not the school but that’s only a couple minutes difference. Plus on a bus these would be a little longer.
Has there ever been a 4 hour difference between two schools in a region in the history of Ohio high school football? Lol
Leetonia was in the former D6, Region 23 in the previous six division set-up. I’m sure that’s four hours from Symmes Valley, at least.
When you are packing more teams into less divisions (less regions) then yes, you're probably right. There may have been a time or two when a 4 hour difference occurred. But we have 7 divisions and 28 regions now and it should never happen. lol

I can simulate 20+ possible playoff match-ups that would require 3.5 hours drive time.

6 teams (Nelsonville-York, Trimble, Fed Hock, Belpre, Fort Frye and Crooksville) clear down on the bottom of Ohio.
7 teams clear up in the far right corner (Cardinal, Labrae, Liberty, Mineral Ridge, Newton Falls, Brookfield, Pymatuning)

Trimble moves up from Division 7, so I feel like they can’t complain too much. Nelsonville people flipping out about the new region is hilarious. Why do they even care? Unless their 4-6 record gets them in, they won’t have anything to worry about come week 11.

The complaint needs to be from the entire southeast district.
They took an entire area (region) of the state and basically evaporated it.
There is no NE, NW, SE, SW region in 21 ... It is a NE, N, NW and SW division.
That is alarming, especially since there was no reason to do it. We had 26 teams to make up what was essentially old Region 23.

2015 1-9
2016 8-2 1-1 in playoffs

different years, can't go off of last season.

Was there a response back after the email and radio show?

Wishful thinking. It's not going to happen.
In fact, dont be shocked if other divisions start to follow a similar pattern. Except D7, we have too many teams just to 'eliminate' our entire region.

The response was similar to what was said on the show. Something about schools & clusters.

Shucks no there was no response. The OHSAA will never admit they made a mistake. Much less of a chance that they'll change a decision unless the courts force them to.

Based on last years points Trimble would of been on the road. I actually predict this region will tougher this year. This is how it would of branched out last year.

1. Mogadore 30.3
2. Fort Frye 22.3
3. Salineville Southern 18.6
4. LeBrae 17.8
5. Trimble 16.99
6. Springfield 15.95
7. Hanoverton United 13.75
8. Bc Western Reserve 11.9

9. Coulmbiana 11.8
10. East Canton 11.05
