It was a great game! Cobe shot with one eye almost swollen shut on that 3! I have to give props to the two McClain Tigers who stayed by Ethan Dunn when he went down on that ankle making sure he was ok, they literally stood there checking on him and waved over help. Great kids! Congrats Waverly Tigers!

McClain was 19-36.

5-5 first 3 quarters.

14-31 in 4th and OT.

I truly think Marquez looked to pass while up in the air for what felt like an eternity.

Heartbreak Hotel for McClain. Players from Waverly going to players from McClain who were prone on court in disbelief. Looked like a great deal of respect out there.

And about the referees. I truly think they called a great game. Waverly is tough to officiate.

I think they could have called more fouls.

Remember most of the fouls late were purposeful.

The officials were whistle happy in my opinion, although there were some no-calls that were head scratchers. But 9 mins into the game and 12 fouls, that's too many. And 15 fouls (at least) before overtime that's still one foul per minute.
Now OMG! What an incredible shot by Marquez! Best varsity HS buzzer beater I have seen (because it was decided game.) One other broke a tie at end of game.
Congrats to Tigers on to the Convo!

I dont think they wanted it to get physicsal at all. A bunch of fouls called that havent been called at the D3 games at Waverly all week. Both teams had to play through it...

Wow, what a game. So proud of the orange & black Tigers of Waverly.
After three starters foul out and down 5 in OT they did not EVER give up or cash it in. That is not how these guys operate.
They kept fighting and clawing and what an amazing 28-30 foot shot at the buzzer by Cobe Marquez (with one eye) to win.

I know there is some play by play on here but here are my in game notes I took on my phone.

Well the final score was, 67-66, Waverly, just for the record.

There is post on here with the entire game. I just fast forwarded to the final shot. You can see it leave his hand and the crowd reaction but you can't see it go in.

Unbelievable!! One of the best HS games I think I’ve watched before. Absolutely great, hard fought game by 2 teams who desperately wanted to make it to the next round. Tough break for McClain, but a huge shoutout to my Waverly Tigers and what a shot by Cobe Marquez!! Very proud to be a Waverly Tiger

Just watched it to relive it again.. Two huge deep threes by Robertson with .29 and 9.3 to play to put Waverly in position for Marquez’ unbelievable game winner.

Dang that video. Swished 1st shot and just barely scraped front of rim on 2nd. I don’t really like emptying the lane but most every coach does it. With 6.6 left I like to have 2 guys there to guard ball of whoever rebounds and make them take time to go around.

Crazy tough shot to win it

12 seconds left and down 4 and Robertson hit the 3

Killer loss for McClain

I just wonder if he missed it on purpose to make it more difficult for Waverly to get started, easier then an inbounds. I wouldn’t think that was the case but man he missed it bad.

No way, not with 6.6 left. It barely drew iron. Potentially better off had he missed but I definitely want that to be made.

Me too, but just makes one wonder. You go up 3 with a make and assured no less than another OT.

That second FT by GM was an air ball and didn’t touch the rim so shouldn’t that have been Waverly’s ball out of bounds on the baseline with 6.6 seconds left?

Great finish though and congrats to Waverly
