Tri-Valley 20 Sheridan 19 Video Highlights

Post by teach1coach2 »

Tri-Valley has 7 MVL titles in a row and a win over Sheridan would make 8 and tie the record held by New Lexington in the 1970s for consecutive MVL titles. With that said, Sheridan has a veteran group and all signs point to a General win by a couple TDs or more.

6-0 vs 6-0. Dresden is the place to be this Friday night at 7:00 pm.

Should be a great ballgame. Both with very good offense's and defenses. Game of the year in the MVL.

This is interesting to me, is this about as close to a rivalry as it gets when a team has dominated a league to the extent TV has?

If I looked at it correctly, since the 2007 season, TV has won 9 of 11 MVL titles including 8 of 9 and the last 7 straight (as mentioned above). Philo shared one title with TV and Sheridan (2016) in that time and Sheridan is the only other team to win outright titles (in 2008 and 2010).

TV's league record in that time is 88-4, which includes 74-2 since 2009, and 59-1 since 2011. New Lexington (2008) is the only MVL team besides Sheridan to beat TV in that time. That makes TV 67-0 against teams NOT named Sheridan in the MVL over the past 10 seasons (including the current season).

Sheridan's three wins over TV snapped a 13-game TV league win streak twice and then ended a 47-game league streak in 2016. TV has won 14 league games in a row since that last loss to Sheridan.

TV has made the playoffs 9 times from 2007 to now, while six other MVL teams have made the playoffs a total of 16 times (Sheridan - 4; Philo, John Glenn, Maysville - 3 each; New Lex - 2; West M - 1).

TV has obviously been the class of the conference and Sheridan has been the only real thorn (see what I did there) in TV's side at any time during an amazing decade-plus run.

Idc what the river people think. TV has been the best school in the area. Who would have thought that upset win in the playoffs vs Logan was the changing of the guard. Before that TV was bad

Yes, Tri-Valley has had a decade of dominance. Last year Sheridan had Tri-Valley down 14-0 at half and TV took over in the second half and won 24-14. Most of that Sheridan team is back. TV has a lot of linemen back but the skill players were JV kids or back ups last year.

When the MVL goes to division in 2020, Tri-Valley, Sheridan, John Glenn, and Philo should all be very good for several years. Maysville better step it up some and River VIew a bunch to keep up with the cream of the crop.

Small division with New Lexington, Coshocton, and Meadowbrook should also be a battle. Crooksville, Morgan and West M will need to improve a good bit to compete.

Wish Sheridan and/or TV would play the likes of Burg. That'd be a game to remember.

I think Sheridan finally gets over the hump this year. Veteran senior group and an edge at quarterback make the difference IMO.

The Generals have been on a revenge mission all year.

This will be such a great game to watch I would imagine.

One of the best 5 high school football games I have ever seen.

Tri-Valley 20
Sheridan 19
1 OT

Sheridan 7-0 mid-1st quarter
Tied 7-7 end of 1st.
TV hit a FG right before half 10-7
End of 3 still 10-7 Tri-Valley. Sheridan missed 2 FG in 3rd quarter. 1 barely right and the other barely left.
TV added a FG in early 4th TV 13-7
Sheridan scores with 3 min left in the game. Extra point blocked. Tied 13-13.
TV drives the field and misses a FG barely left with seconds left.
All missed FG all night for both teams were long enough but slightly left or right.
Sheridan takes a knee and we go to OT.
Sheridan scores in 3 plays. 1 yard run. 18 yard WR reverse. 1 yard up the middle. Extra point missed to the left. May have been deflected.
Sheridan 19-13.
Tri-Valley scores in 3 plays. Incomplete pass into endzone. Complete pass to the 5 yard line. Run up the middle for TD.

Extra point good. Final TV 20-19

Sheridan seemed to be inside the 30 yard line (almost red zone) on about half of their offensive plays during the game. Time after time TV turned them away on 3rd and 4th down. Stuffed the run. Pressure QB or get a sack.

Both defensives had a great night. The hits were teeth jarring by both teams. Several runners and receivers fumbling on hits. Normally the offense recovered.

Both these teams could make some noise in the playoffs.

Tri-Valley is looking at 8 straight MVL titles which ties the consecutive league titles record with the 1970s New Lexington teams.
