Hayes was tough for Waterford. Traeton Hamilton hit a 350 ft triple on first swing of game but Hayes worked out of it. Whiteoak defense struggled but Waterford looked really good at the plate.

Wash CH 000 001 0 -- 1
Marietta. 001 002 x -- 3

After the 1st batter of the game, the Marietta defense was excellent. That and the wild pitch on which two baserunners each advanced 2 bases including their 2nd run of the game.

The W Court House offense was doomed by bunting and baserunning issues as they failed to take advantage of 4 BBs and 3 HBPs.

Turner Hill relieved Trent Dawson in the 6th with 2 on and got the last 6 outs for the win including a K of the #3 hitter for the last out with the tying run on first and a full count. Marietta's first run scored on Turner Hill's single, and the big insurance run was knocked in on a single by Hiser.

After 4 full innings

Eastern 2
Clay 1

Clay with a major baserunning gaffe and Eastern with 2 sterling defensive plays have kept Eastern in the lead.

Going to the bottom of the 7th

Eastern 2
Clay 1

Riffe came in relief in the 3rd for Clay and has thrown 1st pitch strikes to 19 of the 21 batters he's faced. As of now, he'll have nothing to do with the pitching decision.

Riffe is the best pitcher they got. Why would he not start?
