Coal Grove 10-4
Gallia 10-4
Co-Champions

Rock Hill 9-5
South Point 8-6
Ironton 8-6
Chesapeake 6-8
Portsmouth 6-8
Fairland 1-13
Sorry, but these cannot be correct as there are 58 victories and only 54 losses.

They have to equal each other.

Portsmouth's record is correct at 6-8, however.

I don't how correct the records are but, all wins and losses are equal. All teams records add up to 14 league games.

ummmmm....

Does this look correct to you if each team played the other 3 teams twice in one season?

Team A - 6-0
Team B - 5-1
Team C - 4-2
Team D - 3-3

The answer is no.

There would have been 18 victories and only 6 defeats.........doesn't work that way even though each team has only played 6 games in the conference.

I count 8 teams in the OVC, which means that they should have played the other 7 teams two times. Hence, 2x7 = 14. Simple math

Let's take a different approach to help you out.

I am sure that you would agree with me that each game had a winner and a loser; therefore, the number of total wins in the conference have to equal the total number of losses in the conference.

Since there were 56 (14+12+10+8+6+4+2) total games played, there should be 56 total wins and 56 total losses.

However, there were 58 total wins and 54 total losses.

Therefore, 2 total wins need to be dropped somewhere and 2 total losses need to be added somewhere.

//////////////////////////////////////

Obviously, the league couldn't look like this scenario:

Gallia 14-0
Coal Grove 14-0
Ironton 14-0
South Point 14-0
Portsmouth 14-0
Fairland 14-0
Chesapeake 14-0
Rock Hill 14-0

Why not? Because there are 112 wins and no losses. It has to be a balanced number of wins and losses at 56. There were no ties.

How about all 8 teams post their OVC results on here?

Here are Portsmouth's (6-8) OVC results:

Portsmouth 12 Fairland 0
Coal Grove 3 Portsmouth 0
Portsmouth 8 Chesapeake 6
Rock Hill 13 Portsmouth 0
Gallipolis 7 Portsmouth 2
Portsmouth 6 South Point 1
Ironton 4 Portsmouth 3
Portsmouth 10 Fairland 5
Coal Grove 16 Portsmouth 6
Chesapeake 7 Portsmouth 0
South Point 4 Portsmouth 1
Rock Hill 2 Portsmouth 1
Portsmouth 8 Gallipolis 1
Portsmouth 7 Ironton 3

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong! Conference is going to get very interesting in the next couple of weeks with all the rainouts and make up games tied in with pitch count rules! Winner of the conference is liable to have 3-4 losses.
Even when the standings were beginning, there was an honest mistake as there were a total of 15 (3+3+2+1+2+2+1+1) wins and 13 (0+1+1+1+2+2+3+3) losses.

The total number of wins and losses have to equal.

Ironton Tribune stated Chesapeake ended the season 4-10 in conference play. If this is true, it totally explains your dilemna here.

You were pretty close championship, i think this might be the order though, moving Portsmouth up and Chesapeake down one. At this point, we all know who the champs are (Gallia and Coal Grove), and even though it was a very competitive and fun year, I'd like to reference a quote from one the greatest: "If your not 1st, your last!!" - Ricky Bobby
