This sectional is so balanced its ridiculous. Maybe the most competitive sectional I have ever seen in any sport. Only 2 teams with a losing record, and one of them (Jackson) is pretty darn good with Bryce Hall on the mound. Unioto wins 16 games and is pegged as the 3 - and may have to beat a Chillicothe (15-9) or Warren (13-8) in the first game? Ouch.

Very well balanced, We are gonna get our game in today against NY.

I would have never thought we would have our record with the injuries we have had this year, still need to get stronger bats and reduce the errors if we wanna make a tournament run.

4-7 I could make the argument for any team in any spot. Chilly seems to be on a tear, and I am not certain Waverly has reached their potential yet so those could be inverted, and likewise for Warren and Meigs. Just a toss-up on all 4 teams.

I do think Jackson and Gallia are probably in the 8/9 slot, but I think we may get the 8 (the win at Athens) and thus the home field for the 8 versus 9 game. Winner of that plays Marietta on May 11th.

If Meigs gets the 7, barring a meltdown against VC they would face Athens in the May 11th game.

Look forward to tomorrow and seeing who ends up where, especially 4-7, everything else should be pretty cut and dry.

I think all the D2 teams should make a deal right now. Regional semi's against each other - everyone agrees to throw their No. 2. It gives our southeast team the best chance to beat Steubenville!

lol

This is going to be an exciting sectional. Hope every team is at their best and no injuries. Should be fun.

Made it down to see the Athens vs Gallia game last night. Neither team threw a typical rotation arm, but from what I saw, Athens should win easily if Gallia makes it to the May 11th game. From what I watched last night, I have no idea how Gallia has a winning record. Only thing I can guess is that OVC must be a pretty weak league. Didn't Gallia win their conference? (and they're a 7 seed in this sectional...)

Athens won't have to worry about throwing their 1 or 2 in the May 11th game if they didn't need to.

With not many games next week & a break before districts, my guess is everyone will throw their 1 just to get em work in.

Good point, in that case, if it is a Athens vs Gallia match-up...Athens will roll into districts on cruise control.

Athens will probably throw Sano against Gallia but Rodgers is really good too

Nice seeding to allow Athens to get winner of Gallia/VC instead of Meigs/VC. How did Gallia get the #7 over Meigs which got the #8. Does anyone look at heads-up records or "good wins/bad losses" or just vote straight # of losses?

Sano started for Athens last night and went three innings on a cool night on The Plains.

Struck out 7 of the first 9 batters he faced.

On the season: 5IP 0ER 13K's

This is one of the best Athens teams I have seen in recent years. I don't think they are on the the level of the teams that had the Hewitt brothers, but they are pretty good. Good luck Dogs

This Athens team has far better pitching. Probably the best Athens team since the 80's, back when Athens and Marietta had some dominant teams. Sano is the best pitcher in our area and also bats close to .600
