Claxon , and I'm not convinced Burg is loaded with good hitters .. they have two great ones that were mentioned .. but placed against good pitching I'm not convinced the rest of the lineup is that great. Solid , sure . good enough to continue the run of domination in the SOC2 , probably so.. But against Moore or other higher level pitchers ? I'm not totally convinced . Time will tell , they are young and can improve for sure
2 of there best hitters
Risner was a 4 year starter. Very good lead off hitter and a heck of a centerfielder

I'm not sure , not seen them play enough , but if they want to go deep and make a state run they need to greatly increase the quality of the schedule . The more you see good pitching the better chance you have to scratch out a few runs in a regional final or final 4 game. They have a few kids used to seeing good pitching in the summer but the more threats you have that are not close to certain outs the more complete your lineup is . They have the pitching , need to sure up the D and try to get a little more complete on offense . Going to be a beast in SEO , go go to final 4 with even a small bit of improvement

I was trying to make a point before an adult decided to blast a kid on here which is gone now, thankfully... The only comparison I know between Burg and Ironton offensively is against White... Burg had twice as many hits, 5 earned runs.. Ironton only had one earned run. Williams and Bergan ( Burgs 7 and 8 ) each had a couple hits off of white... but on the flip side, Burg gave up 8 runs and Ironton only gave up 3.

Ironton loses 1 Senior, Haylee Stevens who is heading to Glenville State.

I’ve seen both teams multiple times...in my opinion Wheelersburg has the stronger hitting team 1 - 9...Ironton showed it was the stronger defensive team but it also had much better pitching...when a team is averaging at least 2 strikeouts an inning a defense only has to make 7 to 10 at the most defensive plays...on the other side, Burg pitching did not get many strikeouts so their defense was under great pressure to perform...obviously it struggled greatly against Leesburg even though it pounded out 12 hits against quality pitching...

I do agree it will be hard for Burg to replace Claxon’s and Risner’s bats...but they have talent coming up in the 8th and subsequently in the 7th grade...I would not be surprised to see multiple lineup changes beyond the two seniors.

Totally agree Ironton has to upgrade their schedule significantly...

If Ironton played Burg's schedule and conference that 2 K an inning would change drastically. I agree with much of that from above but not convinced I'd describe it as " much better pitching" Do they have an edge ? yeah but IMO it was due to entire schedule of playing much higher quality teams.

My thinking here is in the end it’s tournament time and throw out schedules, scores, batting averages. all it takes is a good pitcher, good fielding even thou that team didn’t play a so called better schedule. One game , lose and go home, .A team might have big batting averages and great record but people say we got this and that, so you see how that worked out. I think Ironton is fine, good pitcher, good defense and average hitting, in a one game scenario they have just as good a chance as anyone. Just because you travel all over gods creation really doesn’t mean a hill of beans in the end. so what if that 2 k an inning went to 1 a inning , that’s why you have a defense. You just pitch around the so called hitters and it’s a 50/50 call then. Make someone else beat you, play the odds walk them and put pressure on rest so what if they score 2 or 3 runs that way. Odds go up considerably that way rather thanblasting 2,3 4 run blasts at a time. play the game to your strength and be able to say hey we will give up a couple that way. Some days you win and some days you might lose.

Prime Time...you totally missed the point...you’re too busy trying to defend your Ironton team...I believe that ManitouDan and I both agreed that Ironton is fine and a quality softball team...just making observations on how they might prepare better next year...I’m not from Wheelersburg and just love the game...so you don’t have to keep taking your subtle swipes at their program. Congrats to Ironton on a great season...looking forward to seeing what they can accomplish next season...as well as Wheelersburg...Notre Dame...Clay...and all the other quality southeast softball programs in our area.

Yeah I'm not from Burg and appreciate all the good teams mentioned above. I coached at ND , I think Jason Gearheart is a great coach, As well as T Ruby , glad Ironton has a great team to follow as well. I just love the game.

I believe Fairfield lost to Meadowbrook last year 3-4 in the tournament.

If so, that means that both of these schools moved up from D4 to D3 this year which is impressive.

Wow, Sounds like another great game. Congratulations to Meadowbrook on the win and to Fairfield on another great season.
