The early verbal is sadly becoming a necessary evil. It almost never benefits the student athlete.

I would be curious to see how many times that a player says they have a verbal to a certain school when they are a Freshman change their minds when by the time they are a Junior or Senior and go to a different school. And vice versa. How many schools have pulled a spot from an athlete that was a verbal to them as a Freshman.

It is a good read. Size of school doesn't seem to matter though. Ole Miss had a roster of 35 in the fall, now 23. A few years back Tennessee had 5 pitchers committed in the same graduation year. I am sure that each thought they were the next Monica Abbott. Not 1 is there now. There are many things to look at before committing.
