I’ve heard this everywhere for a while now and they are considered doing this to minimize arm injuries. Softball has next to no major arm problems compared to baseball.

There is already a game where pitchers throw underhanded. They call it softball. Leave baseball alone.

You know about 40-50 years ago, mens fastpitch softball was a thing right? My grandfather used to play.

Unfortunately it is not. I help coach 6u and 8u baseball in South Carolina. Although it is coach or machine pitch, we teach overhand throwing on defense as part of the fundamentals. Yet parents have become ultra concerned about injury and league officials are extremely sensitive to safety liability issues. That is a combination that will eventually lead to rule changes for the "good" of the child. Never say never.

Use to have some good fast pitch softball here in Logan back in the 60s. Think that is when a lot of the smaller town had a league. Played fast pitch overseas in the late 60s. Surprised we of the talent that was there. Had a captain that batted left handed and the guy hit a homerun almost every time up. It was a thing of beauty to watch. Had a pitcher named Wiggins and he could make a softball do all sorts of things. Think I may have had one hit off him the whole summer.

Baseball pitchers can pitch underhand if they want. Nothing in the rule book prohibits it.
