Game 2:

Marietta 10. Athens 8

Was 10-1....Athens got 7 in the 7th inning as the Tigers were changing pitchers. Great to see some sunshine.

Congrats to Marietta. They came out swinging and their bats stayed hot until the end. Bulldogs on the other hand did not swing any hot bats until the end. But that seems like a passive diss to the Bulldogs. Yes, they scored 7 after the pitching change. Doesn't seem to matter to me. When a team has 8 hits in an inning sandwiched around 2 walks, that's an impressive inning. Proud of the team after the day they had to continue batting until the end. Left bases loaded there in the 7th. One more hit, who knows....Over the 2 games, it was just "one of those days" for the Bulldogs.
I assume that was your son that pitched first game. Great pitching job, very few balls squared up against him. Good luck to both programs moving forward.

You are very correct ! Athens continued to battle and that is the great thing about baseball....you have to get all the outs.

It was the first time I got to see Athens this year. Hope to catch some more as we move along. One of my favorite places to watch baseball at all age levels ! Athens had great vision in building their complex and of course Millers
chicken is always our stop.

We have Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri, and DH Sat this week......thats what I meant about Coach changing out pitchers as the pitch count has to be managed.

Good luck as we get deeper into the spring. I will try to keep scores posted as it is hard to find them in papers.

Thanks .....Coach Duckworth
