Just curious how Wheelersburg and Northwest were seeded higher than Minford when Minford went undefeated in the SOC2.

Minford is in the Southeast North bracket behind #1 seed South Webster.

As far as Northwest receiving the #2 seed, I can't answer that. Both Northwest and Wheelersburg are in the Southeast South bracket.

The southeast south bracket is full of teams that are not as strong record wise as the southeast north bracket.

North- #1 South Webster (SOC 1 champ), #2 Alexander (SEOAL co-champ), #3 Minford (SOC 2 champ). Shame 1 of the 3 won'the make districts.

South - #1 Burg 2nd in SOC 2, #2 NW 4th in SOC 2

There are 3 sections in the D3 Southeast - 7 teams in each - determined by location and is usually the same year in and year out (unless someone drops a program like Piketon did this year, in that case they take the team that is located closest to even out the sections again. So you seed from 1-7 in each section, sometimes a certain section is better. Its going to happen, next year it might be a different section (well who knows with the new point system).
Most sections look like they were pretty accurate strength wise (always going to be 1-2 that could flip)

As far as ones mentioned above
North --- Minford and Alexander could have went either way at the 2-3 spots. Sure strength of schedule helped there.
South --- Burg, Northwest and St Joe could have also - Pretty sure northwest has beat everyone in their section now, but Burg win was after draw.
West --- Looks pretty good comparing all scores and schedules

The SOC besides minford was 1/2 - 1 game difference between 2nd to 4th overall. Pretty sure all but one game between 1st-4th place teams was 1-2 goal games max.

Final Standings
1 Minford
2 Burg
3 Northwest
4 Waverly
5 West

You are right about the NW win over Burg was after the tournament info was put in to be voted on, so just bad timing on that win by NW. The SOC is on a point system, you get 3 pts for a win and 1 pt for a tie. Below is the final point standings for the SOCII.

1 Minford - 22 pts
2 Burg - 13
3 Northwest - 12
4 Waverly - 8
5 West - 0

I believe that the way things ended up that there definitely should be an argument for a super sectional.

Makes sense this year and most others as well.

Minford got the bitter end of the seeding but between the 2 teams Alexander has a better record against a little tougher schedule. I think the game being at Alexander gives them the advantage but could go either way. If Minford was hosting the match I'd give them the edge.

Another notable match.. Wheelersburg and Clay. I think could be closer then expected. I'll pick Burg in a close one. I'm sure Trapp has done his homework and knows that if he puts a decent shot on goal it has a great chance of going into the net.

I think the argument against the super sectional come from the combination of drive times and schools who do not have lights. Just an example, but if you were Leesburg playing a 5:00 game at St Joe, what time would you have to leave up there to get at least 30 minutes of warm-up? 2:00 at the latest would be my guess and they would have to get dismissed by 1:30 to have time to get ready to get on the bus. This time of year, if you have a 5:00 kick on a field without lights and the game goes to OT, it will be borderline too dark to finish the game too.

The current 3 sectionals prevents most matchups like that until the district rounds, which are at Athens and on a Saturday.

Should be a good day of soccer. All 1 and 2 seed teams playing and very deserving programs. Good luck to the SOC teams Saturday!! South Webster has a great group of seniors who have not won a district championship I don't believe. This may be their year. One game at a time!

This is how division 2 works because its so spread out. We have driven over 2 hours 3 out of the last 4 years for our sectional games.

Still think a super sectional is needed. Neutral sites are needed for the sectional rounds. D2 teams can host D3 sectionals and vice versa. This would enable 3 man crews for each game, and lights would be a requirement to host. So, games can be held at 6 and 8. Brackets can be already set up, and teams can choose what slot in the bracket and location like many other districts throughout the state. Have felt this is needed in all other sports also.

Actually, Waverly had 11 points. They beat west twice, northwest once and tied both MINFORD and burg once.
