Shaker Heights Laurel 53
Proctorville Fairland 52
FINAL

As mentioned by mhs95_06, Bailey Russell missed the game tying free throw at the end of the game. Stepped to the line down two with .2 secs left, hit the first, missed the 2nd. Game over. Fairland loses by 1.

I watched her tourney highlights i found & I could tell she was gonna be too much. She already looks like a D1 college player. They must schedule big ir have a tough conference to lose 10 games. Will take two + very strong HS players to stop her in final.

GREAT SEASON DRAGONS!!!

Pretty sure they don’t have a conference & just play an elite schedule. Paid off for them today.

Fairland lost to a pretty good team that they could have very easily beaten . Now the next game , against PM , they wouldnt have had a shot , maybe losing by one in the Final Four is better than getting stomped in the next game . I say Laurels season ends in an ugly fashion. Fairland had a great season , just a shame a private school takes them out.

I sure do wish private schools would have their own tourney .

Really good game. Fairland had their chances but too many turnovers. Still, a much better performance than a year ago and I feel like it was a better indicator of how good they were than what they had shown before.

Russell is a fantastic player and will hopefully be able to build off of this.

Private school or not, that game came down to layups, free throws, & turnovers… like almost all girls basketball games at the high school level and below.

The facts are just because they lost to a team that I personally think we should have beat winning or losing basketball games doesn't make you a champion if you know those girls then you know they are all champions look for a deep run in next years playoffs along with Portsmouth ovc stand up

Both Portsmouth AND Fairland should win state championships next year (‘24-‘25). With the seven division it will be much easier to finish the job.

The only thing that can derails either one of them are injuries. We will start to see more and more state titles from the Southeast District with the new format.

I think it’s possible, but the tradeoff exists that teams who would’ve conceivably won district titles in the four-division format might not make it past the third game in the future tournaments.

Purcell Marian returns Ms. Basketball, Laurel returns their entire team, so just thinking they go to different divisions, that makes it very tough for Fairland. Fairland is losing 2 scholarship seniors who were outstanding for years, leaving only 4 players who got significant time. It’s going to be very tough for them to win a state title next year.

They are still much closer than Portsmouth is. The Trojans showed a ton of maturity issues and I’m not talking about on the court. That’s going to be a lot to come back from, even if they have everything back.
