South Central Ohio Top 50

Post by Fundamentals »

Since the website changed this post was lost. So here it is, still working on Blog page as having some technical difficulties there, please feel free to comment or PM me with new names that we need to watch. Remember the South Central Ohio Top 50 is talking bout players from Brown County to Lawerence County, Chilicothe to Portsmouth. Note these our "IMO" and we are looking at these players as potentially next level players, so we have a different evaluation set that we look at

Order doesn't denote ranking, also PM if you have seen players that need info or someone we miss. keep it short thanks.

Sams 2016, Huntington Ross, seen her play several times and heard she attended several elite basketball camps and getting the serious looks. Can shoot the ball! a High IQ, gets it done on both ends. Set school record for 3's in a game (7) and points in a game (37) for Huntington Ross.

Hall 2016, Southwebster, the Presbyterian U. signee is a high motor player with a high skill set. Look for her to really go out with a bang her senior year. Also made All Star Team at Purdue's Team Camp A tremendous defensive player. A steal for Presbyterian.

Robinson 2016, Westfall, solid player, can score. defends only seen her limited times, but liked what I seen. Will play somewhere if she wants to

Barrier 2016, Ironton. George Mason Signee. Played very well on Exposure circuit. Just an impressive player. A do it all player who impacts the game.

Roney 2016, Eastern Pike, At her size and athletic ability a very good player and will play next level. So far this year believe is averaging 30 plus, needs to for Eastern to win.

Holden 2016, Wheelersburg, Has all the potential, can play at the next level NAIA or D2, another 5 position player who has a high motor.

Puckett 2016, Vinton County a strong player that can score inside and outside.

Little 2016, Lynchburg Clay. has size and is quick. rebounds and runs the floor well. solid defender. NAIA /D3 player.
Taking advantage of playing with 3 strong guards that can score, just does what needs to be done.

2017 Players we have seen
Richardson 2017, Alexander. Can play and a key part of a team that will make noise. Can score, handle and defend. One of those players with college looks and will be playing next level. Not seen her play this season yet.

Wheeler 2017, Southeastern Ross. Another tough guard who can score, handle and defend. Key to Southeastern's success, like her game. Seen her at PV, intense player, will likely get 1000 pts as a junior. Can score

Binkley Twins 2017, Lynchburg Clay. A very tough combo, quick and score and defend the perimeter. Also liked the fact they can rebound and not afraid to attack the basket in traffic and draw contact. Just two pieces on team that is primed and ready for a run this year. Seen at PV, team is off to 2-0 start, quick and relentless on defense and they get out and run

Brown 2017, Chilicothe. Long and very athletic. Gets after it and strong on the boards, once she develops a go to move will be unstoppable in the post. High ceiling on this kid.

2018 Players we have seen, we are updating on others as we get info from others. Also we aren't ranking so players position on list doesn't mean their rank..lol

Johnson 2018, South Webster, going into her Sophomore year, Johnson will be just getting better with experience. High motor, aggressive and tough. Has size and strength and nice ability around the rim. Seen at PV Classic seemed to really improve on her ball handling, love her potential

Day 2018, Eastern Brown, definitely has the size an 6'1". Good shooter, needs to get more aggressive on the offense end and can shoot well enough to do so. Also has a good court vision. Seen her at PV Classic, needs to look to shoot the ball more, at her size needs to be a double digit scorer every game.

Skeens 2018, Southeastern Ross. Shooter and finisher. Nice size and garnering attention from colleges from D1 down. Has superb vertical and quickenss and great athlete. As she develops so her stock rises. Her playing at a high level this summer will play off tremendously this year, and she was Co Player of the Year last season. Key to Southeasterns run this year in tourney. Seen her play at PV Classic, seems they need to take advantage of her ability to post smaller defenders.

Daniels 2018, Minford. A do it all player. Shoots, defends and makes others around her better. Key to Minfords success and will play at next level. Either Soccer or basketball so a double threat.

Chapman 2018, Fairland. Solid point guard that can defend. Good ball handler and can get to the basket. Needs to develop more offensive aggressiveness.

Shope 2018 Fairfield, Good defender gets after it, if she keeps working during offseason on skill set, will only continue to grow. Seen her at PV Classic very good potential.

Woods, Paint Valley, long and athletic. like her ability to attack the basket. Solid Free Thrown shooter, like to see her develop a consistent outside jumpshot and will make her hard to guard during games. As she develops the ability to attack with the left will also make her game better. Still like her potential.

Green Jackson, we have seen her play over the years, recently at PV Classic, a very solid ball handler and can score. Defends well and has quickness. As she gets stronger she will get the shots she wants.

will add these following players in a few weeks once we see them. they are on the list
Hamilton New Boston, Smith Waverly, Buckley New Boston

2019 Players we have seen and gathered info on

P. Scott 2019, Lynchburg Clay, High motor! Defensively a stopper, who can score. High IQ. Made All Star team at the OGBR Skills Camp last week. When we seen her she was just all out and seemed to be everywhere. Very quick also. Seen her at PV Classic, defended Skeens very well despite height and strength difference, also put up 25, girl plays the game with ease and no urgency. We feel the top Freshmen in our area.

Pennington 2019, West Union. at 6 1 has the size and a very strong skill set that allows her to play all 5 positions, defends on the perimeter as well as post. Seen her at the PV Classic and was a 5 tool player, also in the 4th quarter guarded PV best player taking her out of the game. Hit 3 threes from deep and was always looking for the open teammate.

Richardson 2019, Alexander. A solid guard. attacks the basket and can handle the ball. can score. will add plenty to Alexander.

Cook Southwebster Injury has kept her out this summer and on her returned for the season reinjured herself from what we where told. Speedy recovery to this talented lady.

Will add more on these players later
Kallner Wheelersburg, McDonald and Collins Huntingtin Ross.
if you have seen these girls or others in any age group please feel free to PM here with their description. We are looking for kids that can handle the ball, defend, shoot and play a solid

Some additions to Top 50, have seen these kids personally and one addition we had to be reminded of.

2018 Smith, Waverly. Has the size, can score. Potential for next level, needs to work on ball handling and increasing her range consistently, as she develops can play at the next level.

2018 Ellie Ruby, Wheelersburg, at 5'1 her motor is very high. At the PV Classic was a dynamo on defense, she can be a defensive stopper. Solid handles and can shoot the ball. One ex Coach stated "If anyone plays better D, I wanna see it" Her size will not keep her from playing at the NAIA or D3 level, also a State track runner.

2018 Ali Hamilton from New boston. Very long at nearly 6ft. rebounds well and can step back and shoot the 3. Believe she needs a little more discipline inside defensively. Needs to develop more ball handling ability to help create those mismatches offensively

Remember we are promoting these kids via social media, trying to give kids the recognition, i.e. The Dabbelt report, OGBR type recognition, for South Central Ohio. By doing this, we hope to help these players stay motivated and work towards their goal of playing next level, if they wish to do so. Names are not in order as we don't rank them, just talk about them. In todays world "Social Media" is a big tool for recruiting, besides the 2 sites I have named there are several others out there, Brandon Clay, Nicc Jackson, Hoopgurlz, Bluestarmedia are a few others. So take this as a positive motivational tool. We are in a talented area and we want "our kids" to get the attention they deserve.

I think the Shanks girl from Western Pike needs some love. Great motor has good range . Went head to head with the girl from Hunington Ross. Shanks team won and she had 24 points. The girl from Hunington had 20. Western face guarded her the whole game.

So what social media sites do you use to promote? I don't think this is considered social media.

I think Kaci Russell from Rock Hill is in the mix also. She is approaching 1000 pts on her career and is Rock Hill's starting guard for 4 years. She plays great defense and runs the floor as good as anyone.

Watched her play last night vs SW. Holden hit some 3's but this young lady was the most impressive player on the floor for Burg in my opinion. Came to play.

What is south central Ohio top 50?? And who is the person doing this or what connections do they have to make this legitimate? Is it like a pfloyd ranking on the boys forum? Which I thoroughly enjoy by the way. Thanks, for any info.

Similar effort of pfloyd but not towards ranking teams but more so the top players in the district. Seems to have a strong grasp on it.

We are not affiliated with anyone. Trying to utilize Social media to benefit the kids in our area that our putting in work. Social Media is playing a big part in recruiting, go check out Dabbelt Report,
Brandon Clay, Prospect Nation, ASGR, Blue Star Media and others. Its just help putting the kids name out there. We don't rank kids, just highlight those players who have the skill sets to play next level, NAIA, D3 to D1. We try to point out things in a positive light and that is our goal. We eventually are looking to other things along the lines of Prospect Nation and OGBR but we are going at it slow. Stats we post on Twitter are from MAXPREPS, SVC sports zone, newspaper links.
Right now we choose to stay unrecognized to make it easier to watch kids play and evaluate.

Thanks, for the info. I am very familiar with Brandon Clay, Tom Jenkins, and all the media outlets mentioned, the role they play and connections they have nationwide to help student athletes continue their playing careers. I guess that is what I was wondering if any of these people were involved in this or had their names attached.
jim Dabbelt does an awesome job promoting girls basketball around the Dayton area and it would be awesome if you could do the same for southeast Ohio. Keep up the good work and keep promoting these kids, many times they are forgotten. I will follow.

Nickle thanks, we just started this 2015-16 season and hopefully we can grow into those types of media promoters. I have been to and talked with Dabblet events and Clays and use these as our model to success.

We encourage coaches and fans to send us players names to watch out for, soon we will promoting the class of 2020 and know there are several upcoming stars in that group. thanks again and check out @ohio50 on Twitter.

H Schaefer, '17, Notre Dame, the 5'8" guard dropped 32 last night. She is long and athletic and a high motor player. Gets after it and runs the floor well. Can score and rebound. As she continues to develop a stronger dribbling set, will become even more of match up issue.

Saw Schaefer play. Very good guard. She had many uncontested layups with the youth last night of Manchester. She switched off the Johnson(21pts) girl off and on. Did struggle a bit on guarding Johnson in the post area. Overall, very good game for her. The Johnson girl did get some help from the Freshman White who dropped 20 in the second half. Johnson moved from Point guard to the post this year due to the lack of height and the youth. She has many good moves, still a good threat from the 3- 35+ on the year. Avg 19.5 ppg, 12.2 rpg . She has signed with West Virginia Wesleyan (NCAA II) for volleyball.
