Warren 43, Marietta 47

Post by mhs95_06 »

W 10 13 06 14 --43
M 07 11 13 16 -- 47

Similar to the game between these two rivals earlier in the season, Warren got a good working margin in the first half in both games and Marietta ground their way back. At Warren in Marietta's 5th game of the season, they couldn't get over the hump after cutting the lead to 3 with 3 mins left.

Tonight Hannah Grosel had a hot streak late in the 3rd and early in the 4th, hitting 3 treys and a FT in a 14-2 run to propel her team from a 22-29 deficit to a 36-31 lead. Typical of the spirited rivaly, Warren clawed back to a 42-41 deficit with key points scored by Liston, P. Bowe, and Jackson with Marietta able to maintain a 1-5 pt lead with key points by Bradford and Washburn. Nonnenmacher made a key deuce to put Marietta up 44-41 with 39 sec left. Bradford hit a FT with 28 sec left to make it 45-41, then Jackson made a deuce to cut it to 45-43 with 20 sec left. Then Marietta went to the line for the only double bonus of the game with 7 sec left and missed both. Washburn got the rebound and the put-back to seal the win.

Marietta is now 6-11 after losing their first 6 games.

Great rivalry, great game. On the hardwood this is one of my favorite matchups in SE Ohio, be it either boy's or girl's.

This matchup has been a good one for years, but when Ole Coach Cuz bounced between the schools, it became an even better show.

Congrats to the Lady Tigers
