Waterford dominated from the opening tip. I have watched them play twice now and if they start shooting the ball well they will be tough to beat because their defense is really, really good.

Once again, Waterford's pressure defense just causes disruption to every part of their opponents' offensive plays. Waterford shot the ball really well early on tonight and won big despite early foul trouble to a couple of key players. Fort Frye is better than the final score; even though the score was one sided and the Fort didn't get off very many uncontested shots, they just didn't make any of their open shots early on. I have now seen Waterford 3 times and they have looked better every time I've seen them. They also got some very key minutes from their bench tonight.

Alex wins the 2nd qtr 17-10, for a 31-26 lead at half. Game depends on Alex beating the Waterford press for easy baskets in 2nd half, in my mind.

Waterford down 10 in 4Q and made a furious comeback to tie it. Waterford stole the ball with 15 seconds left and had a break away layup to go up by 2 and the layup was missed leading to a buzzer beater by #15 at the final horn. Alexander was hot from outside in the first half and Waterford gave up about 15 points in transition when Alex beat the Waterford press. 2 very good teams that will both make deep tournament runs. Lady Cats have no seniors on the active team with their only senior out with an ACL injury. Waterford thrives on transition baskets which just weren't there tonight due to the guard play by #4 and #15.

Alex held their 10 pt lead past mid way thru the 4th qtr at 48-38, then it was 48-43 with 3 min left, then 52-43, then 52-45 with 1:22 left. Then Waterford's 2nd trey of the 4th qtr tied it at 30 sec. Waterford called time-out with 29 sec and took off their full court press and trapped in half court, stealing the ball, but failed to convert it to points. Alex was heading back down floor with a 4 on 1 which I thought would be their best chance to score the winner, but their coach went out on the floor and called time out with 6.5 sec left. From there they hit a trey, thru the net as the buzzer sounded for the exciting and well earned win.

Lady Cats drop tough game @ Classic in the Country to DII West Branch Beloit 10-2 38-35. Lady Cats go to 10-2

Waterford has now lost to Div 2 West Branch by 3 and Div 3 Alexander by 3 on a buzzer beater. Definitely have stepped up the competition this year. Has to help them come tournament time.
