The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers Dropped the State Semifinal game to the Columbus Africentric Lady Nubians 63-34. The Lady Tigers were uo 18-17 after 1--Behind 27-20 after 2 periods-And down 39-24 after 3, And the Final was 63-34 Columbus Africentric. Africentric will move on to play Marion Pleasant Saturday at 10:45 AM Ironton just could not get the lid off the basket today, As they dropped to 27-1 and done for the season. But man what an Amazing Exciting season it was. As several Lady Fighting Tigers played their last game in Stripes. Sounded like we had a huge advantage crowd size wise. But the Tigers got into foul trouble early and the Lady Nubians were just too much down the stretch.Marion Pleasant beat Mt. Gilead earlier. Mt. Gilead beat a team this year 111-1. And if memory serves me correctly the Lady Nubians have won 4 State Titles since 2010. So that should be a barnburner.In closing good luck in the State Game to the Lady Nubians moving forward. And just an Amazing season comes to close for the Lady Fighting Tigers who finished at 27-1.Absolute Amazing year Ladies.

Great season Lady Tigers! Sorry it had to end like this,but no shame in making it this far and losing to what amounts to an Ohio all star team.I didn't know publics could draw from such a wide area.No wonder they have won so many titles

The men's team was even stripped of a title about 10 years ago for recruiting bait! OHSAA don't seem to care, and you can bet other big city publics are in on the action too.During open enrollment before the transfer rule Brookhaven got players from all over the city in their heyday,Pickerington always seemed to get the best players out of Reynoldsburg ,since Reynoldsburg lowered the pay to play years ago that kept some there.Just this past year Huber Heights Wayne got a star QB out of Trotwood and he didn't even have to sit any games for the transfer rule.There was some question whether his parents even lived in the Wayne district.Just found this little tidbit that happened recently



The Ohio High School Athletic Association fined Africentric $1,200 after finding that an individual associated with the high school was involved in recruiting a student to the school. The OHSAA banned that individual from contact with the girls basketball team.

The OHSAA ruled that the student did not meet any exceptions to its bylaw on transfers, and the student cannot participate in sports at Africentric until next school year.
