District 14 voting- 2/14/2016

This post most likely go on deaf ears but something needs to change. Yesterday was the District 14 voting and surprise, surprise, it went as it always does. First the SOC dominates with several schools vs. SHAC with only 3 in the DIV 4 voting. you have coaches lobbying with other coaches from the SOC, you vote for mine and I will vote for yours even before the meeting happens. This is without looking at the full body of work from the individual athletes from the other league. This makes it impossible for the the Teams from the SHAC, with players that have busted their humps in the off season to get better to get a fair shake, as they do not see the teams/Coaches most likely before the District 14 voting.

Those numbers are certainly deserving of first team. But not surprising, Carson Roney got second team last year. (1-vote away from making 3rd team) with a 25 ppg and 16 rpg season. She made 1st team as a sophomore with similar numbers. But you are right the soc coaches control the vote.

It's a joke Roney wasn't first team last year and a joke the Manchester girl is 3rd team.

It's just not hard to be fair.

Go figure we are talking about awards and already somebody is upset. Back in the day team records and all that team stuff were far more important. The girl did get selected to the top 15 players in the district in d4 and will get to play in the all star game. Why not celebrate that instead of degrading her award before she even receives it.

Then why have the awards at all? Is this is not the time that awards are given for the work they did for the season? The tournament is for the team records? Nothing can be done for this vote as we know. But....the process can be reviewed and done as the District Volleyball is done.

she is definitely the player of the year she is the best in this area and the stats show that and if u havnt got a chance to see her the last 4 year's u missed watching a special player.

Roney deserved the player of the year in D4 and it really wasn't close.

Roney should have definitely been in the running for POY but to say it wasn't even close is not fair to the girl who won it. Carson may have had a more ppg but for the last two years has had to do the majority of the scoring for her team to even be in contention most games. This year's winner has led her team in multiple areas, also got her 1000pt as a junior, played a much stronger schedule and had several girls on the team that can score double digits any given night. To say that doesn't even make her close is totally out there.

I think what he meant was the vote wasn't close. Roney got beat by a player that is equally impressive. Congrats Kaci Hall and congrats to all the top players who made the gist this year. Good luck to the ones who are taking their game to the next level.

Isn't Kaci Hall a Division 1 scholarship player?? Does anyone else have a D1 offer? I think that says more than points per game.

How in the world can people argue PPG as the sole reason for player of the year?

Kacie Hall could have averaged 30 ppg if she was on Eastern's team. Instead, she's in a tougher league, on a better team, with several other people who could score. She also sat the 4th quarter of several games due to blowing a team out.

Kacie Hall has signed with a Division 1 school. As previously stated, has anyone else even received an offer? I think Division 1 coaches have a little better understanding of talent than posters on SEOPS who base projections solely off of points per game.

Roney has gone head to head with hall several times over the last 4 years and each time has been the more impressive player! Like I said congrats to Kaci on the award. Well deserved

And by the way.roney had interest from Kent state, ball state. More head state and marshall. I belive they are all D1 schools she wasn't interested. She will be playing bball and vball at rio. Rio's head vball coach has been her club coach since 7th grade and it's been written in stone since then. It's not about d1 it's all about what ur comfortable with. Free college is free college!
