The WV Thunder 10u girls AAU team played up in the 11u age division and won the Loveland GBA Tournament over this past weekend. They lost their first game of pool play to the Cincy Heat 11u by one point on a last second shot and had to come back and beat the Dayton Lady Hoopstars (Black 10u) and the Cincy Finest 11u just to make it out of pool play.

On Sunday the faced the WV AAU State Champs, the WV Panthers 10u and came away with a 17 point win. Then in the finals they got a rematch with the Cincy Heat 11u and won by 7 points. The WV Thunder 10u team is now 32 - 8 on the season.

The WV Thunder 11u team also played at Loveland and won the 12u age division in convincing fashion. This team is now 38 - 2 on the season and has not been beat by another 11u team all season. The WV Thunder 9u team played up in the 10u age division and came away with a third place finish.

Congratulation girls!! The AAU Division I Nationals will be coming up for the 11u team in Branson, MO later in June. The 9u girls will be playing in Kenner, LA for their AAU Division I Nationals, and the 8u and 10u teams will be in Orlando in July for their AAU Division I Nationals.

Thank you falconfan 86 and let me echo your wishes as well.

The drawing for the SO Magic 11u Nationals should be live on-line at the AAU Message Board sometime this morning. There are 53 teams participating in this 11u National Tournament from all across the country including three representing Ohio: WV Thunder 11u --which played out of Ohio this year, SO Magic Carson, and the Cincinnati Angels.

I know the girls on the SO Magic team have been practicing hard getting ready and they will be playing in their last tournament, the GBA Nationals in Cincinnati on July 19 - 22 before leaving for Branson, MO a couple days after that.

The WV Thunder 10u team will be playing at the GBA Nationals as well, but they do not start their 10u Nationals until July 12 in Orlando, FL.

It's great to see that there is so much interest in Southern Ohio in girls basketball. It wasn't that long ago that girls/families would have to travel a couple of hours away to be able to find teams to play with. The Southern Ohio Magic organization has been a big help to some of the local girls in being able to continue their basketball development other than just playing on their local school teams. Normally, that would end in March but now the girls get to continue on all the way up until June. Here's a big thanks for the men and women involved in getting this organization started and to the coaches.

Thanks Bucknut, you are right , Soutern Ohio has long been overlooked for girls basketball and qualifying for the nationals is a way to help put us on the map, and our girls are getting the recognition they deserve, keep it up ladies from all of Southern/Southeastern Ohio....Go Lady Magic!!!!!
