Minford Millie...The player I got the information from did not know right off who they were playing. Our schedule just showed the Paint Valley Shootout. She believed the game was 6:30 or so. I'll see if I can find out and post it.

from the Ironton Tribune:

New Boston starts fast to beat Green

By Jim Walker/Tribune Sports Editor

FRANKLIN FURNACE — Did someone put the larger basket on one end?

The hot-shooting New Boston Lady Tigers drained nine 3-pointers as they beat the Green Lady Bobcats 83-54 Monday in a battle for first place in the Southern Ohio Conference Division I.

New Boston jumped out to an 18-0 lead before Green scored and never looked back.

“They shot the ball real well the whole game and we turned it over early and that’s not a good combination,” said Green coach Dale Royse.

“They came out of the blocks and hit a 3 right off the bat. We didn’t handle their pressure early. We just got in a hole and couldn’t get out of it.”

Trailing 24-5 after the first quarter, Adriana Blankenship scored 6 points in the second quarter for Green but the Lady Bobcats fell behind 43-21 at the break.

The Lady Tigers went up 43-37 after three quarters and continued to pull away in the fourth quarter.

Blankenship had 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead Green who fell to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in the SOC.

Abbey Barnett scored 13 points and had seven rebounds. Ashlee Runyon added 10 points and five assists.

“I did see some positives,” said Royse.

Tasha Buckley led New Boston with 24 points including four 3-pointers. Missy Buckley had 19 points and three treys.

Western is 4-0 in league play, 5-1 overall. Indians didn't play well tonight as majority of team was in foul trouble within first half, some in first few minutes. Indians must pull together to beat New Boston because most of tonight's game was sloppy. GO WESTERN!!!

Tartans at Tiger Den

Post by a_c_m »

New Boston, after a 17 day layoff over the holidays, welcomes the East Tartans tomorrow, 1/3. The previous game went to the Tigers by the score of 76-23. The JV played a shortened 2 qtr. game at East ending in 18-18 tie. The Tigers enter 2008 with an overall record of 9-0 and 6-0 in conference. Sciotoville East is 2-4 and 1-4 as far as I am able to track.

Good Luck to both! Tigers, take one game at a time, work hard as a team which you have been doing all year and leave it all on the floor.
