Valley 78
Symmes Valley 48 a final

... this game was one that I WANTED to get eyes on, Valley undefeated vs Symmes Valley with 1 loss coming into this one ... neutral court ... the final score isn't representative of SV , the Vikings do a lot of things well - hitting the boards for one, they have good length, size for a D4 school starting 6-2, 6-3, 6-4, 6-1, 5-9 ... Valley however is at a different level ... Pressure for 32 minutes, trapping fullcourt after made baskets, pushing the ball for 32 minutes offensively at every opportunity - made basket by the opposition, rebound off missed shots by the opposition ... every opportunity/let down by the opposition is penalized by the Indians - turnover, transition bucket ... it's like night and day from the Indians from last season - more structured offense/halfcourt game ... can Valley play the halfcourt game - yes, the movement/spacing is there, the pieces to get inside and score on the perimeter are all there ...after watching a good Minford team play last night at Jackson, I can see where Valley beats the Minford team by dictating the tempo of the game ... Valley 78 Symmes Valley 48 a final ...

... Valley dictated the tempo early in this one - forcing 7 first quarter turnovers ... converting on 3 transition buckets out of the full court pressure D ... all 5 of the Indian starters got on the napkin stat sheet, led by both Jace Copley's 7 pts including a trey, Bryce Stewart matching the 7 points with a triple of his own ... George Arnett and Colt Buckle adding a 2 pointer each and Carter Nickel went 1/2 from the line ... SV got a bucket each from Caden Brammer, Ethan Patterson, Dilen Caldwell and Levi Best with Grayson Walsh adding 2 FTs for the Vikings ... Valley 19 Symmes Valley 10 after one ... that's as close as this one got the rest of the way as the Indians put up 33 points in the 2nd period... George Arnett led the onslaught with 11 points including 3 treys, Copley chipped in 8 pts, Stewart 4 points with a slam off a perfect pass to the rim ... Dakota Secrest dropped 3 ball, along with Tucker Merritt ... rounding out the scoring was Buckle/Nickel with a bucket each ... one of those perfect quarters for the Indians/ the tempo was set up by the D pressure, forcing 7 more turnovers 5 transition buckets off turnovers ... 5/8 from behind the arc for VHS... no turnovers for the Indians ... for SV they looked shell shocked putting up only 8 pts for the qtr. a bucket each from Brayden Webb, Levi Best, Logan Justice, and Walsh ... Valley 52 Symmes Valley 18 at intermission ... after surviving the Indian attack in the 2nd, the Vikings actually came out vs the VHS starters in the 3rd and won the quarter 14-13 ... still had trouble vs the continued full court pressure from the Indians (5 more turnover in the period) ... SV was able to get into the paint on offense - Brayden Webb dropped 3 shots in the paint, Ethan Patterson 6 pts in the period with a 3 ball included, 2 pts from Brammer offset the 9 points from Valley's Bryce Stewart who picked up his 2nd dunk on a putback slam , Buckle & Nickel and again added a pair of 2 pointers ... Valley 65 Symmes Valley 32 after 3 ... the final period was a battle of benches with SV again getting a morale victory winning the period 16-13 ... the Vikings never stopped working on the court, as I said I like how they attack the boards - you can see where they win a lot basketball games - they aren't going to see a team of Valley's caliber the rest of the season ... SV got points from Brammer/Patteson/Aleck Beckett/ a triple from Josh Saunders off the bench/ 2 for 2 from the FT line for Nick Strow, a FT for Walsh and 2 point bucket from #0 (wasn't in the program) ... finishing out the 4th with reserves the Indians had everyone dressed putting up numbers on the score sheet - Secrest 2 more / Hunter Edwards with a 2 pointer along with Chris Queen , 4 points from Merritt, and 3 off the bench from 6-7 Levi Stewart ... Valley 78 Symmes Valley 48 a final ...

Great detail, thanks for the write-up. Valley will get after it for sure. Fun to watch, great ball movement and unselfish play were on display.

I was super impressed with the Indians and like you said, the Vikings are solid. Making it even more impressive by Lucasville.

Their pace and unselfishness was really fun to watch.
