BURG VS VALLEY

Post by breadandbutter7 »

A lot of talk about who will win the SOC, and tomorrow night is a very big game for both teams. Can the young Pirates take out the Indians, thoughts?

Great test to see where Wheelersburg's at after two weeks of practice and one game. They are very athletic and play a lot different this year. Valley is expected to be at full strength. 98.3 Pulse FM and 98pulse.com will be carrying the game.

Valley by double digits, too much depth and experience for the young, unproven pirates.

Valley has a long way to go to get to the team they are capable of being. We still aren't shooting the ball well and frankly we looked gassed the other night at Eastern.

That said, we are still a couple of weeks ahead of the Burg when it comes to this stuff, so I will take my chances tonight.

I'm going with the Purple boys. I caught their past two games and Blake Brewer has showed major progress and has showed some sparks of soon to be unstoppable talent!

I honestly think burg played well tonight. Their shooting was horrendous. Valley did a great job getting high % shots. Rolfe played like he always does. Burg is better than last year and will have a good year.

Indians played a really nice 2nd half and won by 18. Blake Brewer with his best high school game.

Very surprised to see the burg fans head for the extra at the end of the 3rd.

Congrats to Valley on the win. They took the ball to hole all night and hit their free throws. Burg looked sluggish at times and rightfully so.

Burg is still a work in process. You could tell Coach Ater was trying to find 5 players that gelled together on the floor and that never happened. He ran a lot of players in and out all night and never could get a rhythm going. Burg needs to find some shooters or every team will pack a zone in and take Lotspeich out of the game, just like Valley did. If he gets the ball down low, he is almost automatic. Holden is going to be a special player but still has a little work to do. He will be just fine. Once Ater gets a lineup figured out, look out. The potential is there.

IMO, this Burg team is a year away from being really good. JV looked really strong tonight and has some nice players.

No way is this a 20 point game the next time they meet. Burg still trying to get their Basketball legs under them after the long run in football.

You'll have to realize. Most of these boys also play football and burgs season just needed recently. The boys must not be in basketball shape yet.

Valley was in the football playoffs also. Don't think that is a very good excuse for the loss. The Burg JV won. Why are they in basketball shape but not the Varsity.

Didn't the burgs football season last 2-3 weeks longer than valleys? No excuses, burg just isn't very good.

Basketball and football are two completely different sports. To determine if a team is good or not you have to look at two things, can they defend, and can they get open looks. Burg was able to do both last night. The problem was they probably left 8-10 points off on free throws and they probably shot 30% from the field.
Against a team as good as valley, you do that and you're going to get blown out.
