Zane Trace

Post by Spartan12 »

It’s almost tournament time! I believe the Pioneers are 14-3 right now with losses on the road against Chillicothe, Unioto and Gahanna Lincoln. I’ve seen many mock tournaments that have ZT at the 2 seed.

I would like to say they may deserve the 1 seed. Their schedule is easily the toughest schedule for any D3 team in the SE district.

It may not matter on who is the 1 or 2, but after watching this Zt team win the district 2 championship last year and return all 5 starters they could easily be 17-0 if they played an easier schedule. What team is going to beat Gahanna Lincoln? (Losing tonight 78-63) What team on here is going to win at Chillicothe?

Just my opinion. They should be the 1 seed.

Check out Fairland’s schedule. Not the high end ranked teams, but their nonleague schedule is also very difficult.

Now, Fairland losing to Gallia Academy should lock up the 1 for Zane Trace though, IMO.

It was going to be close, but that’s a bad loss that ZT doesn’t have, plus ZT avenged one of their losses, which is also impressive.

Yeah ZT is probably better than Fairland but seeding is based off the # of wins

I agree.

Fairland almost lost to Portsmouth the other day. I checked out their last several games & they’ve barely won. Not taking anything against them but it seems like they’ve taken a step back.

Zane Traces 2 losses were to 2 teams that were ranked in the top 10 in Division 1.

Well, I disagree with the seeding when it just comes down to wins. Zane Trace has lost against 2 teams on the road against Gahanna and Chillicothe who were both ranked in the top 10 in D1. I think that makes a difference. But just my opinion.

List their best 5 wins. And compare vs Fairland’s best 5 and Eastern Brown’s best 5. All 3 would lose to Chillicothe and Gahanna Lincoln.

Zane Trace has beat these teams with winning records:

Unioto
Amanda (right around .500)
Vinton County
Adena
Logan Elm

All that matters is how far they make it in the tournament. ZT should make a good run in D3

#1 seed plays the Central District the first game of Regional.
#1 seed can choose to play in either district.

Chillicothe was in the top 10 at one time, but they have proved lately that they are not even close to the top 50 in D1. Even though they are probably the top team in Southern Ohio.

Read the super sectional rules. The 1 seed is called and decides which district they are in. They can choose Athens 1 or Athens 2.

Just read it. Big change from the old way.
#1 out of the Central (Harvest Prep or North Union) will want to come to Athens.
I think the other Central District winner goes north. (don't want to play Ottawa Glandorf)

These are teams that ZT has defeated that have a winning record:

Unioto
Vinton County
Adena
Logan Elm
Amanda (right around .500)

9 wins against teams with losing records.
