Waverly 61
West 49

Robertson 31 (19 second half)
Smallwood 11
Will Futhey 10
Wade Futhey 9 (two big 3’s) off the bench
Michael Goodman and Eli Crabtree saw their first career varsity starts and while they didn’t score and both fouled out, they played a tremendous game with the Tigers short on players. Those two young men stepped up big time.
Waverly with a starter out injured, a 6th man out with injury, a starter out of town and a 7th/8th man out of town. Not to mention a starter and another player no longer with the team.
Waverly played as well as they could have tonight and it was good enough to beat a pretty decent West team.

Davis lead West with 18, Howard 13, Bauer 11, Coe 2 and Coleman 2.
Coe and Bradford fouled out.

Waverly just trying to survive, pick up some wins until they can get some players back.

Through eight quarters of play (Wellston and Northwest) they have only given up double digits in two. (10, 0, 6, 4, 1, 5, 4, 11)
What you have said is true, and OH has played pretty good defense, on the other hand being it is still pretty early in the season, so both of those teams have plenty of time to prove me wrong, but if both don't show marked improvement going forward, I just don't see very many wins for either team.

Portsmouth 65, Piketon 52......the Trojans outscored the Redstreaks 41-26 in the 2nd half. Matthew Fraulini scored 20, sophomore Daryionne Bryant had 14 in his varsity debut, and junior Chris Duff pitched in 12 off the bench. Coach Collins basically used a full court press for the entire game and it created quite a few turnovers. This Trojan team is one of the best conditioned teams that I've seen at PHS in quite some time, and they are super fun to watch.....very athletic.

Hoopie74: I think that Trojan fans are hoping that this team can get to over .500........a modest goal for a team that went 8-16 last season. It's nice, though to start out 1-0.......but we have to play at South Point on Tuesday. That will be a tough test for our kids.

Good luck to your Indians and Coach Arey......he's one of my favorite coaches to talk to, and I'm quite sure that went the tournament comes, Peebles will make their mark.

I look forward to seeing you at one or two of your games this year . One game at a time.
