I’m here.Warren, Logan, Jackson, Boyd Co, Point pleasant, haven’t seen Gallia but might be here. Jackson has been rolling. Scored 54 in first half on Point P and I think started 13/15 from 3 lol. Wallis has close to 30 in a half. Jackson was drilling Warren by 20+....Warren dad said they had most everyone. Jackson beating Boyd Co 30-16 at half. Jackson playing without Spires, Bragg, Blankenship and Davis....4 of their top 8. Great early summer so far for the Ironmen

Bloom Carroll JV....wow are the quick and good!

I agree. Ran their mouths a bit.

I thought Jackson played very well together as a team. Very unselfish players. Missing 4 others and now adding the freshmen boy to the mix, they will be very deep this year.

Thx

So Gallia Academy not playing in this nearby shootout with good teams? Why not? Assumed they would.

How was Logan?

I really can’t believe how good they looked. Played so fast and unselfishly. Refreshing to watch.

If Davis plays I see 11 deep

3 Sr
4 Jr
3 So
1 Fr

Coach Morrow could have a real good variety. I love the quick pace and they made very good decisions.

Portsmouth will participate in the Rio Shootout on Monday, June 17. Don't have the full schedule, but I know the Trojans start at 11:20 and play 4 games, both varsity and JV. I plan on attending, and I'm hoping to see a Trojan team that can put the ball in the basket more often.....in which scoring was our biggest weakness last season.

For those teams facing Hurricane tomorrow, I just saw in the Charleston Gazette that Hurricane has two transfers in from the Sudan, one being 7-2 and the other 6-10.

Portsmouth went 2-2 in the Rio Shootout on the 17th, defeating Northwest by 39-26 and Tolsia (WV) 46-40 (after trailing at halftime by 10). The last 2 games saw the Trojans lose to Boyd County (KY) 57-50, and Eastern Brown 44-35. Overall, Portsmouth looked better offensively than last season, and this version of the Trojans is quicker. There are more skilled teams in the SE district, but I doubt if anyone is quicker than Portsmouth. Defensively, the Trojans will give anyone on their schedule trouble with their man to man. The Trojans' Amare Johnson has to be considered one of the best on-ball defenders in the entire SE district.....he is absolutely relentless. Rebounding was a challenge for PHS, as there is no outstanding size.

The JV went 3-1, with several freshmen playing. Portsmouth may not field a freshmen team this coming season because of low numbers, but that could change. Even so, the freshmen that played yesterday will get some valuable experience playing at a higher level.

For most of the day, the varsity starting 5 was: 6-2 SR Matthew Fraulini, 6-2 JR Miles Shipp, 6-2 SO Dariyonne Bryant, 5-7 SO Amare Johnson, and 5-8 SO Drew Roe. This 5 is Portsmouth's best starting unit, but Coach Collins did rotate several players throughout the course of the shootout.

Portsmouth will play in the Peebles shootout on Friday. I feel somewhat better about the 2019-2020 Trojans after what I saw yesterday.
