Portsmouth could end up starting 3 sophomores this coming season, Drew Roe, Amare Johnson, and Daryionne Bryant. Roe started at PG last season as a freshman, Johnson was a part time starter, while Bryant returned late in the season from a leg injury suffered in football. All 3 look to be big contributors to the fortunes of the Trojans in 2019-2020.

Levi Blankenship from the Peake should be a great player. Started as a freshman. Can shoot the 3 and plays good defense. A team player.

Coulter Cleland at Meigs. If he can stay healthy will be a great scoring option for Meigs.

Porter from Fairland had an amazing last season. He had the 8th highest 3pt shooting percentage in the state. Good handles and sees the court well.

I haven’t seen many guards in the area, regardless of grade, on the same level as Robertson. Watched Waverly play Jackson in summer league a couple weeks back and he absolutely dominated Wallace on both ends of the floor. He had 20+ and held Wallace to 8 pts, guarding each other the entire game. And in my opinion Wallace is a top guard in the area.

How’d the rematch go?

As good as caleb is and he is very good for southern Ohio. Robertson is elite. Wallis is headed to rio grande and I am not sure he can play there. Trey will have multiple division one offers.

I don’t know if I label any player in the district as elite...not this year. Trey is a great player. Last year I’d call Myers elite and Holden elite.

There have been a lot of darn good players in our SE district go to Rio and rarely see the court or make it at all. Wallis can really really play. I hope Trey makes it big time...we’ve faced him so many times in his basketball years.

I agree completely on Myers and Holden last year. I think the noll kid for Chillicothe is elite. I also believe trey is. He sure made a great impression on Marshall’s coaches at their team camp. They will be watching him closely!

So you haven’t seen many guards then

Basically anyone can get on here and say that anyone is elite. Neither of these players are elite but Wallis is far better than Robertson at this point in their careers.

Robertson has already had a better career so far and he’s only going into his sophomore season

Damien Moten will make a run this year for best player in his class. The kid has been putting in work this off-season.

I have two sophomores to watch at the varsity level.

Jett Lori-6'0 200 lb guard-averaged 12 a game as a freshman last year.

Mat Kowalsky-6'5 forward-great athlete

I believe Robertson is the top guard in Southern Ohio. Starting as a freshman last year and averaging a solid 12 ppg and 40% from 3, the kid is only going to get better. I could easily see him averaging 20+ this season, by the way the kid is only 5"9.
