Total attendance loss for 2019 – 27,462 ... ouch !!!

... looks like the OSHAA NEEDS some " Basketball :30" magic at the Schott ! ... some "purple hippo/Pink Floyd" on the jumbotron ... of course no changes in "programming" (ie. public/non-private separation) ... will be interested to see if the powers that be "raise ticket prices" to compensate for loss of "bodies in seats" ... the debate goes on as to the "why" and what to do about it ...

- Disposable income is falling/not keeping up with inflation for a lot of folks. Plopping down $20 at the door for a state tournament ticket/$15 in advance at a school is becoming less attractive unless your school goes, there is an area school or a player you want to see. In the OHSAA's defense, you have to play to rent the facility and basketball is one of the sports that help support the overall OHSAA structure, including sports tournaments that lose money. They see there is a problem and tried two-games-for-one-price, but a lot of folks don't have interest in that other game.
-You can stay home and watch NCAA games like crazy as part of the dish/cable subscription a lot of folks have. A lot cheaper.
-In general, there are more things to do today than there were 20-30 years ago.

Not a whole more lot to do from 30 years ago except sit on your azz and watch TV or play on your phone. High school attendance is at it’s lowest point ever and doubt it will ever come back in Ohio.

Football and Basketball attendance may be dropping like a rock but I thought I heard somewhere Wrestling attendance is as strong as ever or close to it.This year I think well over 50,000 fans attended the state tournament

Read an article this morning that betting on 1st and 2nd round games according to Las Vegas sportsbooks actually topped the Super Bowl, which for ions had been the untouchable 'top dog' of the betting world.

CBS, TNT, TBS, TRU ... Not to mention free online access to all the games on your smart phone ... March Madness has to factor in the decline. People/sports fans are simply staying home and watching college basketball. I know because I was one of them this weekend. Sorry, but its true.
