He should have been. You take Anthony off of HP and they are still pretty good.

You take Holden off of the Burg and they probably don’t get out of the sectionals.

You're describing an MVP (Most Valuable Player) award. The award is named "Player of the Year" not "Most Valuable Player". But, it would be very easy to argue Holden for either of them. I think both of those players were worthy of the award, they were probably considered the top 2 if I had to guess.

Huh? Lol. What’s the difference? Every team has a most valuable player. You could say the same about prep. Is prep better with or without Anthony? Obviously better. His point was Holden was so much better for his team that it led them to a 26-1 Regional runner up and I agree. Prep has other pieces to win the regional. Both are talented to win it. It’s disappointing to me that it didn’t go to a senior. I’m not sure how they are voted on. I hope local coaches voted for him.

Coaches don't vote on this award I don't believe. Sports Writers vote on this. Hence the title, "Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association". Also, to answer your question about the difference between player of the year and mvp. MVP would be the Most Valuable person on their team. In D3, in my opinion, Holden would hands down win that, no question about it. The player of the year award goes to the best player. Obviously the player of the year would be the most valuable on their team, but the award is for who the "best" player is overall, in the eyes of the sports writers who vote on the award.

To make it clear, I do think that Holden was worthy enough to win the award. I'm guessing to the voters, it was split pretty evenly.

Gotcha. If that's the case, I wonder how many games they see. Both are very talented, obviously I would have liked to seen Holden win it.

I'd love to see a SE Ohio kid win something like that. Unfortunately, it doesn't happen too often.
